Donna Karan Fall 2010

I've moved a little bit out of my comfort zone with this interpretation of a lovely dress from Donna Karan's latest fall collection. Normally I really like the clean look of all-vector-work, I like that the lines and shapes are totally under control and I can push them around until I think I cant get them any more perfect and also enjoy the challenge to make it look vivid and organic.
But this time I wanted to get some of that raw spontaneous pencil sketch feeling into the piece - many thanks to my boyfriend Christian and my friend Anjin for encouraging me to do this! :)href="[link]">Christian and my friend Anjin for encouraging me to do this! :)

sketch and ref are on my blog: [link]

Even though it might have made you feel uncomfortable, you really pulled it off. The sketchiness mingling with the vectors still is very *you*.

Definitely a fun thing to play with technique :) Love that you're doing this. I get SO excited every time there's new fashion pieces from you. Probably said that before.
There's just SO much on style.com from the latest shows that I'm so behind on what's coming up -- but you're keeping me on my toes.

Love your drawing of this dress. DK has been really amping up the glamazon style -- "I AM WOMAN with pretty dresses!" <3

it looks fantastic, but I think it might look a little better if the pencil lines apple to the arms as well. They kind of blend into the background/clash with the face.

The white lines on the dress, though, and the sleeves, both look incredible.

Holy crap!
Just when I thought I couldn't love your work more...
Those organic lines in the skirt portion of the dress alone make this outstanding.

great idea to combine the sketch and the vector, it really gives this illustration an edge.

I actually love the touch of what, white pencil? And I love the semi-transparency of the sleeves!
