The Time Sweeper by MissDSanti The Time Sweeper by MissDSanti
Decided to do some "BLiNX: The Time Sweeper" fanart, this time traditionally! It was a challenge, but my colouring skills improved a lot and while I wish there was a method to make the sky gradient more smooth (with less smudge), it's probably due to the quality of my cheap pencils.

Blinx is one of my favourite games for the Xbox and I still play it even today, but the real tragedy is that the character himself reminds me of my very first cat who passed away almost three years ago. She used to be orange with white markings and green/amber eyes, and while she wasn't the nicest one in the bunch I still miss having her around... rest in peace, my little angel.

Blinx belongs to Microsoft and Artoon, I only own this artwork.

This looks more detailed (especially his head and goggles) than your past traditional works :) I like the contrast and the color choice. You used the glowing lighting which is pretty brave too!

Try to make the bigger blending area. Maybe try not to make heavy color from beginning, cheap pencils have a lot of wax which makes hard covering one color with another. Or maybe even try to make watercolor underpainting to intensify the colors, so you don't need to cover with pencils heavily, on the right paper of course.

Sorry about the cat :( I don't even know what I will do when my Sir Daxter's time will come, it's too hard to loose them... But to live without them is hard too.

Gosh I'm so so sorry for replying just now, damn I really suck with time X_X

Thank you!! I have to admit that doing the glowing lighting was a pretty bold move of mine since I've never done it before, lol. And thanks for the advice, I'll try to use oil pastels or watercolour (before painting with pencils again) next time :)

Yeah, it's really hard to lose a pet... I always make sure to spend quality time with my other pets as much as possible before they go away.

LOOK AT HOW FUZZY HE IS OMG
I love this color pallette very much btw. I have never played this game, but it looks like it would have been really fun and cute! The color is phenomenal, I cannot color traditionally worth a damn, I always mix them up badly. But you did the sky gradient REALLY well and the city behind him looks great. I do question the moon having a chunk missing, but I'm assuming it has something to do with the game lmao. I can't get over how awesome the eyes are tho jesus

The moon missing a big chunk is indeed from the game XD You can see the trailer here --> www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Kx4Zz…

It's a cute Japanese game (of course) released for the Xbox, starring an orange cat that literally can manipulate time and is on a mission to rescue some princess. The game didn't have much success worldwide unfortunately, but it's still a good game to play even when it is hard as f*ck lmao

Also, thank you! The secret to colouring a good traditional background honestly is literally patience, because you have to paint a base colour very lightly and then add another similar colour in the same fashion over and over again. It's tedious, but it's the only way to make the drawing turn out decent, at least with me.

That trailer had the best beat of '07 :D my god, he's adorable! I guarantee you I would have played that as a kid. "a janitor? TIME SWEEPER" killed me.

:stare: As for patience, I have next to none sometimes XD That's why a LOT of my art is almost exclusively digital, but I also greatly respect and admire the people who do traditional.
