"Eh..?"
A moment of weightlessness. A complete time stop. The red string dangles in front of my hand, just beyond my finger tips. If I reach forward just a bit, I can grab it.
But making the movement is a mistake. My moment of grace is broken the second my hand moves forward. My stomach lurches as gravity takes hold and I begin to fall, the end of the red string starting to become distant at a rapid rate.
Down, down, down, down, down.
The string is a stripe of color, then a square of color, then a dot, and then nothing at all. Only darkness now.
Down, down, down, down, down.
I seem to be falling into forever. The fear that filled my mind when I had begun was now questions and confusion.
Why was I still falling?
Is there no end to this descending?
Am I dead?
Is this what death is?
Tumbling into never ending darkness?
Questions turn into reflection.
Ah..I didn't do anything with my life like I really wanted. I wanted to see more places, do more things, keep tending to my garden. Oh, who will tend to my garden now? All those seeds I planted, I wonder if they'll still bloom?
The darkness was silent. Not even the fluttering of her clothes or hair seem to make sounds anymore. The feeling of weightlessness returned. She wasn't falling anymore, but floating. A small speck in a sea of black quietude.
I wonder what's going to happen now.
