I have used the book "Drawing with the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards.
Last month I found the old videos from the old 5 days session that she made. That left me wondering "Why in my childhood I haven't struggled so much with the drawings as other people?" and I found I haven't categorized as hardly as other people things in symbols (eyes, for example) but now that I'm trying to use another form of seeing things (perspective vision) it's hard to overcome my symbols and repeated drawings. I guess everyone felt like that before, when we were children.
What about you, dear reader, did you struggle to draw when you were a child or still struggle now?
