Aviators of the night by Mirage-Epoque Aviators of the night by Mirage-Epoque
A huge thank you everyone so very much for commenting, for watching and/or faving my art works!" This is a celebration picture to all of you for your support and patience! :happybounce: I think I've fainted. Happy cry (Tears of joy)

Artist notes; I looked up a couple of owl pictures as references to look at (I did not trace them, I only relied on using my eyes.) and watched various video tutorials about ink washes, crosshatching and stippling techniques and more, in order to make the image in the paper appear somewhat similar of what I had seen in my mind.

The materials I used for this art work were Chinese ink (a brand that is commonly found in Swedish art or hobbyist stores (www.mattonbutiken.se/productim…). The brush I used for the sky and the ink washes is from the Escoda Barcelona brand and is a Óptimo Kolinsky sable hair number 6. I also used a black Copic ink pen to make the night sky extra dark. For the outline and details of the owls and the small riders, as well as for the crosshatching and stippling of them I used Staedtler pigment liner of various sizes. For the stars and the feathers outline I used a white Pentel Correction Pen extra fine point.

I'm proud over this one, but I know that there much that can be improved on so I'm curious to hear your thoughts as well. Let me know what you think of this ink painting in the comments below, what was good, what was less good, what can I improve on ect. Feedback and constructive criticism are always appreciated with me. :D

Take great care of yourselves everyone and stay awesome! ( ' u ' )

For the Brush Inking Group, would it be possible to know the exact type of brush(es) used, inks, etc.?

I forgot to add that information in the descriptions. I'm sorry about that.  I'll copy and paste the text here for you! :)

Yeah, part of me believes so too. I mean that if enough passion is put into something nothing is impossible. Thank you for commenting and for the reply, Wolf! I appreciate it. =D

This is beautiful!  And owls are loads of fun to draw.  Those funky shapes, the expressions, the patterning on the feathers.  It looks like you just sat down with pen and paper and went to town.

I liked the thumb, and when I saw the full version with the little riders I giggled.

Thank you so much for your comment! I agree, they're one of my three favorite birds. I'm very happy to hear you like it a lot! :D As for the "went to the town" part, it's kind of both yes and no. To be honest with you, when I first began sketching the drawing I found a helpful tutorial on DeviantArt about how I could organize the workflow and lessen the risk of artist block of an artwork by seperating it into three sections. Though, while the patterns and details on those feathers were the very last thing that I had to complete, I admit they took the longest time to finish. ^^;

Thank you! I was hoping these little riders would get noticed! Giggle
