You people who say that "Vocaloids sound like/is Auto-Tune," cleary don't know how much more complicated the program is. (Then again, I've seen the layout of Auto-Tune and it doesn't look user friendly either).

Here is the difference, if you must know:

Vocaloid uses samples of human voices to create the titular 'vocal androids'. Auto-Tune uses a phase vocoder to correct pitch in vocal and instrumental performances. Two very different programs with very different ways of working.

The only reason I can say how people seem to confuse the two is that the Vocaloids do sound like they've been processed through Auto-Tune. But (unfortunately), that's what they're are; androids. They're not going to sound human in the fucking first place! (Although with heavy editing, this can be pulled off, but most of the time, it falls into Uncanny Valley territory).

:icontealdeerplz: Vocaloid and Auto-Tune are not the fucking same program.

Auto-tune can only be used on real living breathing humans and it's meant to make the singer's voice pitch perfect. Not all Vocaloid sounds robotic and not all Auto-tune sounds robotic because now there's Auto-tune that sounds deceptively legit. Vocaloids are virtual instruments and aren't even meant to sound human (true).

I 100% agree. Autotune just bends the voice the voice to the right tune (or somthing like that) and the vocaloids are just voice banks.

I'm fine with vocalizers, just not autotune.

The funny part is, VOCALOID is meant to sound more human and trying to push this forward

While actual living singers are using autotune to sound less human .w.

Exacto, los vocaloids son programas hechos para cantar y que sus voces fueron hechas por humanos simples como tu y yo.Y el auto tune es un programa para arreglar tu voz si se te sale un gallito xD

Although lots of producers use AutoTune on their songs these days. Mitchie M and EasyPop being the worst offenders

actually... they don't. they tune it to sound like that, so does KZ Livetune.
You can use Vocaloid to make vocal sound like that, since it's already synth.

No, Mitchie M really does use another editing program called Melodyne to patch up all Miku's vocals...I remember because everyone was moaning and whining about and going THAT'S CHEATING DESU. I just think it makes it sound better.
I think someone mentioned Redshift using some sort of autotuning program but I can't hear it in the song, so....whatever.

yeah I use Melodyne for Utau, so I know how that works. It feels like it makes the voice flow more naturally though.

Exactly! The funny thing is, people have no qualms when the same is done with an instrument. Vocaloid was made so that a person didn't have to find someone to sing their song for them to hear it completed, like Finale or Logic for instruments.

Do you have Vocaloid? Or even seen the layout
If not then you really don't have any place to talk, they are both very different softwares, Vocaloid you use a pitching system and decide the pitch of which voice is going to sing, and you have to create all the lyrics, while in auto-tune it automatically fixes incorrect pitching and decides the pitch for you, and the lyrics + voice(s) already have to be provided
