At the Zoo : Blue Jay

This is not a captive bird, despite the title. I did shoot it at the zoo, so I thought it would be a bit disingenuous to just label it Blue Jay.

Nevertheless, I just managed to get a good shot of this cute little bird while wandering around on a backwoods path.

Nice shot, terrific DOF :) Quite a colorful fellow, too. Birds are so twitchy that it's often hard to get a shot like this as I'm sure you already know!

Thanks for the comment. I got lucky; I wasn't shooting anything at this point. Just walking from one point in the zoo to the other. I noticed it, put the camera up and shot - and then it flew away. Luckily, the one shot was just perfect on the framing. Whew!

I love how brightly blue the feathers on his wingtips and tail are. Nice shot. Worthy of a national geographic article I'd say.
