This shot was inspired by unable by *ninjakittykat. It is also very similar to this shot - which was basically just a different person, and a different side of the road. This one has much better color (because of the position of the sun), but much more annoying background detail. I'm not sure which is better...

I basically chased down a nearby student and persuaded them to pose in the middle of a busy street. It's amazing what people will do for the man with the camera. This is the first time I've ever "designed" a shot - I hope everybody thinks it turned out okay...

It was an absolute bitch of a shot - lens flare, vignetting... it was bad. I'd like to get a tripod and master the shots-in-the-dark as well as she does, but that'll just have to wait for greater fundage.

Update 05/05/2004: Fixed up the colors a bit, the yellows are a lot brighter now.

Absolute brilliance!

And you mention so many other inspirations to this shot, making me think respect, which earns you a berth in my dewatch (that and your photo here proves you are very very talented)

:D

Hmm, that's a lot of appreciation. Ah well, it is true. :)

Hey, thanks for the devwatch and the fav - I really appreciate it. I don't think I'm nearly as talented as you say, but I do appreciate the compliment.

hehehe, excellent shot. i'm impressed you got no glare on the reflective signs. looks good. I really like the shadow of the signs in this.

Oh, there was glare. Lots of glare. I just took a lot of shots, and cropped a tiny bit off the top of the sign (which is where the glare was in this shot). You can see it a little bit in the walking person sign.
