Hoo boy I haven't updated my bio in a long time.
Crochet is my main form of craft, which I've been doing since I was about 18 or so. I started out learning with free tear-away patterns from craft stores, which I later combined parts of to make different things, and eventually evolved my own style from that. All my patterns are made by me now.
While I like making popular things as much as the next person, my true joy comes from making the unmade, that is to say, obscure and forgotten things and creatures from games or shows that never made it big, and have small cult followings and little to no official merch. The whole reason I decided to learn crochet in the first place was, there were so many plushies, hats, etc. I wanted as a kid, that just simply didn't exist.
This is also why I put up all my patterns for free. I've been told many times that I should monetize my hobby, but honestly I'm just not in it for the money. I still don't mind taking the odd commission here and there, but I do my best work when I'm motivated and the the thing in question is important to me. Otherwise, I get joy simply out of the idea that someone somewhere who loves the same things as me will one day think "I wonder if anyone ever made [thing]?" And then find my page because of it.
All that said, if you feel like you're not good at something, keep doing it. You don't realize the gradual progress you make along the way. I've certainly come a long way since that first Rattata pattern I designed years ago.
thanks for the support!✨
