BioWare created a monster.
Mass Effect is a series with unlimited potential, granted, it's not the first RPG where your decisions affect the world, but it plays with the notion that everything you does will come back to bite you in the ass sooner or later, and it did, for most of the game, characters wouldn't forget your kindness (or lack of), sometimes I even found myself asking who the hell was that person sending me an e-mail thanking me for saving them. Feedback, all the time, you could influence your companions through your own personality, handle people and situations in so many different ways I wouldn't doubt that there isn't a single
Haha I'm surprised you responded. It's been a long while since we talked.
And that's awesome! I'm also in the games industry now as a concept artist. What areas in game development would you want to specialise in? I'm planning to expand my field to be a developer too but would want to focus my skills on concept, 3D, design narrative and a bit of animation. I'd also need to learn some code to get my feet off as a independent dev. Eventually.
How have things been going? I know that's a big question considering we hadn't talked in over 10 years. I remember you and a few others as I was going on a nostalgia spree on Final Fantasy.
I almost never come around DA anymore, funny coincidence I dropped by yesterday to see your comment.
I wanted to be a concept artist too, though my course has a basic for everything and I will have to study independently if I want to get specialized in something. I also want to study more about character modelling in 3D, but I don't look forward to be an indie dev, I'm just too slow to do things on my own, so I'll just try to get a spot in a game company or add to my unending list of things I know how to do in theory.
I've graduated from arts college and been struggling with some mental health stuff for some years, trying to get up on my feet again so pursuing a new major is helping a little.
Ah in any case, do you have somewhere else you go on more often? Tumblr?
And yeah, going straight into indie dev is difficult, and it's best to start first in an established company before branching off. It's that or graduating with a good team of trusted students and start your roots from there. Personally I'd love to dive into the big scene too with the AAA companies before settling down! It's great for connections, and people I've met so far are wonderful.
