The Commute

Date: 2010
Technique: Oil on canvas
Size: M20 (72.5×50 cm)

My first painting of 2010, and maybe the most detailed one I've ever done. My goal for this year is to focus less on quantity, and more on detail, something which most of my previous paintings lacked.

I don't know what it is about sheep that is a bit frightening, maybe it's their slightly dead looking eyes? And maybe it's just me. Gotta love em though. Wanted to use sheep again in a slightly dark/disturbing painting, but with a comical touch.

Lots of symbolism here, and those that know me well will probably be able to figure out some of it.

lol of course not right now they actually live at a friend of mine's house. The neighbors got a little fed up with the smell... even tho it was their own dog going thro a hole in the fence and crapping in the sheep's pen. :D

Completely like the idea of your painting ^^ Their eyes look so "blasé", I think this applies perfectly to the situation !

I don't know why but this one would be a really good cover for an 80ths thrash metal band.

The background colour gives an ominous feel to this painting. The far off look to the eyes on the sheep is very evident of what you see on the trains everyday. You have so much feeling in this. Love it.
