An Italian vessel, the Ottaviano Augusto, experiences something very peculiar indeed.

Another illustration for Spacecraft of the First World War.

Holy, epically wondrous! The Phenomenal Ottaviano Augusto is stunning and The Flaming Meteor Field looks incredible. The designs, explosion, sky, flames, fire, gamma burst, flame burst, hyperspeed, firing guns, stars, shooting stars, nebula, mast, stern, guns, weaponry, engines, machinery, telescope, signs, decor, flight, flying debris, hole, gleam, glow, effects, movement, flow, realisticness, perspective, atmosphere, textures, hues, concept, composition, uniqueness, lighting, colors, style, and other details are also sensational. Amazingly Radical work! :iconfantasticplz:

I've noticed a hatch-like protrusion on the lower bow of most of the ships. Any idea what its for?

On some the earlier vessels there were attempts to fit single shot rockets to parallel the role of the steam torpedo, but these were never particularly effective and saw limited use.

In this case, it was part of an Italian experiment with combining the ram and a sort of sally port for boarding parties. They never really got a chance to test it though, as the violent intersection of two gravity fields resulted in something even more spectacular, shown here.

There's a recurring motif of technology and political elements that change so quickly that the participants find themselves playing catchup for most of the conflict. :)

Now we just need an Italian version of the theme song... www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCxhIH…
How does it remain airtight?

...but where is the story? In your universe, the story makes the image.
