Description

Preferred Name: Elaine Joy Ridgemont
Full Birth Name: Elaine Belrose Glenis-Ridgemont
Birthday: March 12
Gender: Female
Orientation: Interested in Bachelors (Likes hairy men)
Age: 22
Height: 5'
Weight: 165lbs
Occupation: Flower Shop Owner

Personality: Intelligent, thoughtful, kind, easily startled and much older mentally than she appears. Those aside she is very passionate about life and really wishes to have many cherished friends. She hopes to help those around her to be happier, but at the same time she doesn't spend nearly enough time helping herself and while she will listen to friends speak of the problems of their life, Elaine has to be directly asked about specific aspects of her childhood to actually hear of the things that bother her.
Alternately she can be stubborn, judgemental and strongly opinionated (dispute how she usually censors herself). She does try to not think negatively on people, but she does quietly observe people and can jump to conclusions about them. Once she has created an opinion about a person, behavior or anything it becomes difficult to change her view (obviously harder the stronger she holds to the belief).

Most Favored Gifts:
• Flowers or anything of nature
• Homemade/grown goods (she finds the time and effort they require terribly impressive)
• Antiques

Least Favored Gifts:
• Jewels/precious-metals/Jewelry (Unless they were self mined/crafted, but unless given under that pretense expect to be recieved poorly)
• Meat (she is unable to digest it properly)
• Perfume (problems breathing)

Likes:
• Most Animals, specifically dogs
• People who are kind
Lazy Afternoons in the shop/greenhouse with tea and cookies.

Dislikes:

• Cats (one attacked her when she was small)
• Feeling rushed
Greedy commentary (anything prizing money really makes her uncomfortable)

Origin:
Fayville, A metropolitan city about a 20 hour drive north of Moondrop.

History: Her great grandmother always told her that money hardly ever had the value people gave to it, and in Elaine's life such couldn't be more true.

Elaine's parents had a marriage based on business, and while they did claim to 'love' each other, Abigale Glenis and Stan Ridgemont hardly spent time together much less at home. They had 3 children who were rich, spoiled and mostly raised by nannys... Then they had Elaine. She was born premature, jaundice and had problems breathing. While the jaundice cleared up, her lungs remained weak. under a year old she caught phenomia in both lungs, surviving that she had terrible childhood allergies and once she was old enough for solid foods she became horribly sick for weeks on end. Such a sick baby would have been hard on any parents.. except hers. Her parents were not the sentimental sorts, but for people with money like them it would be in bad taste to put the unwanted sick child up for adpotion. So they did the next best thing, leaving her alone with the nanny and her uninterested siblings as they worked. The sick baby was essentially abandoned in her crib and checked on every so often but hardly the love she needed.

Just before her first birthday Elaine's family was visited by the family matriarch, her great grandmother Ellenora Ridgemont. Of course, Her grandmother wasn't impressed with the child's care and suggested that Elaine stay with her. Afterall she was an old woman all alone in her house and would love to care for a sick baby. Her parents jumped at the chance to wiggle closer to the old wealthy matriarch. Elaine did slowly become healthier, but it had taken extended allergy treatments and watching her diet. Her grandmother had also moved to just outside the city for raising Elaine. They were both happy out there, but Elaine had always internally struggled with why she wasn't good enough for the rest of her family. She remained hopeful that they would want her back once she was healthy. While living with her grandmother in her poor health she had been tutored privately... As it goes, fate didn't let her move home in her youth though.

When she hit puberty all of the treatments seemed to finally be fully clearing up much of her problems.. but age finally caught up with her great grandmother. Perhaps it was the loss of the last of her old friends.. but Elaine thought her grandmother's deterioration was a lack of will to stay as her body gave out. Either way, Elaine felt obligated to remain and care for her grandmother till her death.

Ellenora didn't leave her great grandaughter with nothing though, in fact she gave Elaine the greatest gift in the form of truth. Ellenora had asked Elaine to humor her and not say who she was at the will reading. So she went, claiming to be her own caregiver... Then it was read that her grandmother had left everything to her... and the family errupted into a sea of whispered insults and foul words about 'the sick girl who had manipulated a poor old dying woman'. She couldn't understand how they could be so hateful to a person they'd never even met. Elaine couldn't bring herself to even attend the funeral, she simply read her speach over her grandmother's grave. Some of the family tried ti visit her under the guise of 'consoling' but she knew they didn't really care. Those sorts of people had sold their humanity for wealth.. so she left. She hoped that they would never find her in the rural village she'd found and maybe she could finally feel like she had a home again.

-----
First spring through summer:
Life has been a bit of a whirlwind for Elaine since she arrived in the village, but she is immensely grateful for the change. She finds herself comfortable in the quiet flow of the country days and the people of the village have been largely kindhearted towards her. She has some whom she calls her friends, and is slowly beginning to trust others enough to let them into her heart. She just has a hard time with processing the idea that she could be cared for by them. Elaine has also somehow found herself a boyfriend, whom she will forever say is courting her. Boyfriend and girlfriend are such odd terms to her. But aside from titles and such nonsense, he has wormed his way into her trust to the point where she doesn't want to think of him ever being out of her life. She always wants him as one of her dearest friends. Kisses are nice too though.

First Autumn to current time:
As the seasons changed the people in Elaine's life also seemed to come and go. First the Florist's friends all seemed to leave the quiet village and then so did her boyfriend. While she always expected people to leave, the fact that they suddenly did so has left her a bit sore. Hopefully the cooler seasons will bring her more happiness.

Additional Information:
• Can play the piano
• Has a lovely singing voice, but can only sing or speak quietly otherwise her throat hurts
• Her home is a replica of her grandmother's home and the master bedroom remains untouched.
• Her shop is a very large greenhouse attached to the side of her home.
• She's actually very good at math, it's not often something that comes up. But numbers are her jam.
