This is the fully(kinda) edited version of the prologue! You do need to read it to understand the story, so I really hope you like it!!! (The prologue starts off with Aiden when he was six) Aiden really did want to eat. Eating is, in fact, very important. You get the food, cram it down your throat, then pretend you aren’t still hungry. You can’t show weakness, or else you face the consequences. He wanted to show his mother that he could be useful. He wanted to be a good kid for her, and prove that he could do something, anything, that would impress her. His father was always gone. He wasn't dead, he just never came home. Never ever. He had to do work at the castle because he was the king's brother. That meant he couldn’t spend time with his family. It made Aiden really sad. He got up from his chair. He could do it! Aiden was no longer on fire. He was just standing in an empty void. His clothing was untouched, and his skin had no marks on it at all. He sat there in wonder for a minute. Was this what it felt like to be dead? Was he just going to wander around aimlessly until the end of time? That sure would suck. He would be laughing uncontrollably while crying at the same time before two days went by. Some people could call death a sweet release, but Aiden personally thought this was worse than living. Aiden then heard a soft, female voice. “Do you wish to pass on?” It said. Oh right. He got to choose his path. So that would mean he’s not a ghost. Nice. “What happens if I do?” Aiden asked. “You simply wouldn’t be.” The voice said.
