Since I have been asked quite a bit lately about what graphics tools that I am using, I decided to write about it a little so that you can do the same thing if you want. Now, I did go out and buy a new computer on credit last year so that I had 10 GB memory and 1.5 TB hard drive. That has allowed me to render more pictures more quickly because now the render time has gone from hours to minutes. Good equipment does help with the 3D rendering programs just like it does with the fancy high graphics pc games.
DAZ Studio is my program of choice for rendering 3D pictures. Why? Because it was free at daz3d.com. Poser is supposed to be better but I could not afford it at the time and I did not know if I would be able to get any use of it either. Now I have too much DS stuff on my computer for me to want to change and I do not want to buy another computer to run Poser on. That is beside the point though. I like DS since it takes care of my basic needs. Lots of free stuff is also available on daz3d.com, renderosity.com, and sharecg.com which is how I started out. DAZ3D has a section on their message boards for freebies where they have listed categories for different interests (like superheros!) Of course, now, I tend to spend any extra money at those sites on props, clothes, etc, since I am horribly addicted to making pictures
As for all the props and stuff, I like the V4/M4 figures best but I do use the Genesis figures also (maybe, someday, I will switch to Genesis 2 figures but probably not until they put the Pro set on sale for 80% off). I really like using Stonemason's environments but I use ones created by 3-D-C, Applejack, coflek-gnorg, and various others. I have started using Flink's skies for the overhead environment since he does a great job on them. As you probably, already know if you read my descriptions, I use lots of superhero costumes from TerryMcG and Joequick and some others. I also use tend to use premade poses from ironman13, portrait studio, darkworld, and others, either as a base or as they are if I am feeling lazy which I usually am. As for lighting, I like Daz Dimension Lights by Dimension Theory and Enlighten by Sabby. I am probably forgetting something but that is most of the stuff that I use regularly.
I am a member at Daz3d and Renderosity but I do not really hang out at their message boards very often. I tend to just spend my time here at deviantArts and sometimes at my gallery at Renderotica (which is for adults only!). I am always happy to answer questions but I really do not know what I am doing half the time so do not expect any great wisdom from me Hope that helps!
