WBY: Eizhund

The name is a misnomer: Eizhunds burrow through snow, not ice.

These monstrous serpents are dragonkin, in fact, descended from sea serpents that managed to survive the Breaking of the World by taking to the sky. It is theorized that competition from skysharks and tilikum dragons forced them down into the Barrier, where they underwent a series of adaptations to the cold. Eizhunds have lost the intelligence they once enjoyed as sea serpents and are now little more than dangerous beasts. They are frequently the cause of avalanches on the Barrier, and hunting eizhunds is a rite of passage among orc clans as a way of thinning their numbers and training the clans' young. The ghido, in spite of being dragonkin themselves, have had no success in domesticating the beasts, and they pose a frequent problem to their war-camps.
