Because they're waterlilies!
Jellipad, the water lily pokemon
Jellipad is a small water-and-grass type pokemon found in ponds and lakes in the Osai region. It is distantly related to tentacool and frillish but has adapted to fed off of sunlight as well as small insects and fish. The stinging cells in its tentacles are weak so this pokemon isn't considered dangerous. As such it can be found in city parks and gardens all over Osai. Jellipad was the subject of a well-known painting by a famous artist. Jellipad evolves into Lotusting at level 20.
Lotusting, the water lily pokemon
(male) Lotusting is a medium-sized water-and-grass type pokemon from the Osai region. Because its pad and closed flower resemble a traditional Galarian cap it is sometimes called the Flower of Galar. Lotusting's tentacles can deliver a strong and toxic sting, so people are advised to keep away from areas where they gather in numbers. In spite of this they are often found in ponds and water features for their beauty and because they eat the larvae of stinging insects.
(female) Lotusting is a medium-sized water-and-grass type pokemon from the Osai region. Because its pad and open flower resemble a traditional Kalosian lady's hat it is sometimes called the Flower of Kalos. Lotusting's pollen can confound the senses and induce sleep, so people are advised to keep away from areas where they gather in numbers. In spite of this they are often found in ponds and water features for their beauty and because they eat the larvae of stinging insects.
