I'll become the monster

Before Simon was "Simon Fritz" he was Wine Wingham, a different kludge aberrant who also turned to monster hunting to get by. The major difference between the two was that Wine spent his life alone, and hardship taught him cold lessons about self-reliance and not putting his trust in others.

In the end though, it was precisely because he was alone that he ended up caught and dragged back to Petrichor to be remade. Yet Wine was not totally without power in this situation, either. As a Stormcaller cleric, he beseeched the broken, unforgiving sky - not for salvation, but for retribution, for the utter ruin of those who would cage, betray, and destroy him. And such an earnest wish was heard.
