Description
MORE Temeraire fan-breeds? Will the madness never end?
No. No, probably not, no.
Bishop is a Spitfire. This lightweight dragon is the promising result of breeding a Mohawk with a Tomcat, with the breed inheriting both the Mohawk’s incendiary spittle and the Tomcat’s aerial superiority. They are strong, agile fliers, using their maneuverability for hit-and-run tactics. Like their parent breeds they have variable colouration including stripes, mottles, and counter-shading, but the split in the tail is fused into a flat disc-like fin. The spitfire’s stout tail can then use this as a supplementary airfoil, contributing their tremendous agility. The vertebrae of the tail are partially fused so that it can "lock" its tail into place to act as a rudder in adverse condition, but this also gives the breed a tendency to wag their tails like oversized dogs - most Spitfire-related injuries occurred in the yard have nothing to do with their fiery vitriol, but rather of getting knocked in the head by an enthusiastic dragon greeting its Captain.
Bishop himself is the son of Beau and Wahta's sister, Whetung. He is impulsive and tends to seize on the first idea that comes into his head, a trait shared by his Captain. Under the patient tutelage of the older dragons at the Fort York covert he is slowly coming around to the idea that he ought to look before leaping, but more often than not his impish behaviour merely serves to undermine the training of the other young dragons.
