So I decided to spam DevArt using the Percy Jackson and the Olympians fanart I recently drew (and still am drawing-for now only 5 more to go)
#2 Annabeth....and an owl I drew without any reference-note that apparently being a child of Athena saves you from getting injured by owl claws û.u
Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Nico, Rachel, Tyson, Thalia, Clarisse, Silena, Beckendorf, Bianca, Zoë, Quintus&Mrs. O'Leary, Katie, Chris, Luke, Ethan, Stolls, Pollux+Castor, Michael, Lee, Calypso, Blackjack, Malcom, Chiron
Leo, Piper, Jason
Hades, Hera, Artemis & Apollo
More to come- someone you want to see? Tell me!
Just look up pictures of the Tributes in Deviantart. They all look fierce, determined, angry, with weapons drawn and ready to kick some major ass. They look like they could easily beat the shit outta you.
The Percy Jackson kids look as harmless and friendly as possible. They don't look like they are about to kill me, they look like they are about to serve me pie.
Katniss is not like Annabeth. Katniss is not a cute, harmless little girl with an owl and a Yankees cap. Katniss is The Girl Who Was on Fire. And she could kick Annabeth's ass any day of the week.
That is 100% true. xD
And I love both of these.. The Hunger Games and the PJO.
I think I might like Annabeth a bit more then Katniss, though. I think that's because I just finished reading he House of Hades like yesterday. And I finished The Hunger Games a while ago. xD
But if we're talking about a fight between the tributes and the campers, I'm not sure who would win, considering the campers have their powers due to there demigodness and all that. Plus, we must not forget that these kids fought monsters, huge ones that were a million times their size, so they also have strategy on their side as well as the powers.
Fighting monsters has been a cliched way to prove badasness for a long time. Popeye has fought monsters. Juniper Lee has fought monsters. Astro Boy fought monsters. Martin Mystery fought monsters. Atomic Betty has fought monsters. Courage the Cowardly Dog fought monsters.
I'd rather take my chances with someone who has survived time and time again against REAL opponents than some dorky idiot who only won against mindless beasts that go "BLEAAAARGH!".
Also, don't gimme that "demigod" bullshit. The Percy Jackson kids are far too powered down to be true true demigods. All they get is some stock New Mutants-like powers, and Annabeth only gets wisdom. Franklin Richards, Ally Keys, Jean Grey, Isabel Bigelow or Doctor Strange would kick their asses. Hell, even the average Hogwarts student is tougher than all of the Percy Jackson kids combined.
In the end, the "Percy Jackson" books are too mature, too juvenile and too kiddy for their protagonists to be intidimating in any way. The "Hunger Games" are darker, rawer, edgier, and with that comes more intidimating and menacing protagonists.
Let me use an an analogy: I've been reading "Misfile" for two days. After getting an unhealthy obsession with it, I started reading "Spinnerette", and I just finished it. Now, imagine if, tomorrow, I start reading "Watchmen" or "Hellblazer". The Percy Jackson kids are Ash Upton and Emily McArthur, the Percy Jackson kids are Spinnerette and Mecha Maid. The Hunger Games kids are Rorschach or John Constantine. Get it?
Actually both series follow completly different concepts and have quite different target groups. And while I enjoyed The Hunger Games as a social critic book I enjoy the Percy Jackson books for being funny, well written, informative and mostly accurate to the myths (mostly, though). So it's totally your choice what you prefer, but I'm clear on my favourite. Though I wouldn't say that any of both is better, since they're just so different.
