i personally believe matter is spirit, spirit is matter; there is no separation between the two. as for death, it can be life, as life can be death; all these concepts that are seem in opposition to each other are virtually part of the same continuity, the same manifold of experience.
Yes, it is meaningless. But since the beginning of human history the people still living have made such rituals over what's left. Why?
