[Deltarune:Contrary] Them

Contrary is a Deltarune AU focused on (somewhat) inverting the personalities of characters in Deltarune, this way creating a darker story then the original game that’s more focused on the depressing reality of the world the characters live in.

There would only be one chapter for lore reasons, “Card Dungeon”, chapter 2 (or any after that) would not be present, that’s why the only characters dark world characters in the main cast are from chapter 1.

-Kris-
Kris is the protagonist and in this story they’d be homeless due to Toriel and Asriel tragically dying in a car crash only they survived.

They would be living in an alleyway, sleeping under a cardboard box, hoping that things will get better soon.

They are disrespected by most citizens of Home Town due to them being human and their social status, only a few people, like Sans, would treat them kindly and offer them food to even be able to survive.

Kris was only able to go to school, despite not having enough money for the scholarship, because one of the students at the school “left” and they had a free spot.

-Susie-

Susie’s homelife is mostly unknown but she’s only recently moved into town.

She’s antisocial and tries to be rude as hard as she can, even if most times she fails.

she never had a real “friend” due to her behaviour but, despite hesitation at first, she would become good friends with Kris as they both can relate to each other.

Highly dislikes Noelle and tries to avoid her…

-Noelle-

Noelle would be much more arrogant and assertive in this story.

She’d still be good at school but also very unlikable, she’s somewhat of a bully too (mainly to Susie).

Though she’d somewhat feel bad for Kris too and wouldn’t pick on them as much.

She’s the only one that knows what really happened to Berdly…

-Berdly-

Berdly was a nice kid but his school results started to become worst and worst until he decided he couldn’t take it anymore and…

Everybody knows he actually died and didn’t just leave the school but only Noelle knows how he did as Berdly’s parents told her before moving out of town.

He was Noelle’s best friend and his death is the real reason she turned how she is now.

If anyone brings Berdly up near Noelle she’d completely change demeaner and either react badly or get very emotional at the thought.

-Ralsei-

Ralsei is a real jerk and apathetic to others, though he tries to hide it and put on a “really nice guy” façade.

He would have been kicked out of the castle after Lancer rose to power and swore to get revenge.

He keeps up with the party and helps them simply because he knows they will be able to defeat Lancer so he can crown himself king.

He completely made up the “prophecy” thing just to make his cause seem just, also heavily antagonizes Lancer making him enemy number one.

He has a Chaos Saber he uses in fights to deal more damage, also what he uses to “finish the work” in the end…

He's a literal representation of Kris’s trauma as they had their red horn headband on when the car accident happened, he’s literally UNABLE to feel empathy for others and sees friends just as tools he can use for his own objectives.

-Lancer-

Lancer's the new king of the Card Dungeon who dethroned his own father and imprisoned him due to him being an horrible ruler, also banishing Ralsei for conspiring to steal the throne.

He's an adult now but still acts somewhat childish, just wants the best for his people but isn’t against using fighting to achieve that.

He's actually not that bad of a ruler, being pretty beloved by the darkners.

He fights The NOT-Fun Gang because of them causing mayhem in the kingdom but after he realizes Ralsei is there he knows why they are actually there.

After a long fight with them he’s depleted his energy and falls exhausted to the ground begging for mercy.

Ralsei approaches him as if he’s willing to spare him but instead takes his sword out and slashes him in the chest, making him fade into fine red mist and leaving the crown to him…

-Jevil-

Jevil here would fully go insane by being trapped in his eternal prison.

He knows everything is just fiction and even knows there is only one ending to this story.

During his fight his only objective would be to get out of his prison but he’d also warn the gang that a traitor is amongst them and that they will die too in the end no matter what.

Everything he says would just be discarded by Ralsei as being random nonsense but would be particularly frighting to Kris and Susie.

In the end Jevil will manage to escape no matter what but would somehow never be seen him again…

-Roulxs Kaard-

Roulxs would the main obstacle through all the dungeon due to being really determined to stop the gang.

Lancer still somewhat considers him his father so he’d have an important position of power.

His puzzles would actually be hard and he’d frequently set traps all around.

Even if in the end one of his own traps would cause his downfall due to it backfiring and killing him instead.

This story only really has one ending as Ralsei, having achieved his goal of being the new ruler of the land, would end up killing of Kris and Susie too due to not needing their help anymore.

This objectively makes it impossible for there to be more than one chapter no matter what you do…

Your choices still don’t matter.

Extras:

- The Light World would just have Negativetale characters, even if some have changes compared to the original AU.

- Home Town would be an hard place to live in due to it being a pretty badly kept city.

-The mayor of the Town is actually Asgore instead of Noelle’s mother as she got fired due to an accident…

- Kris would head to Sans’s shop every morning to get breakfast as he’s kind enough to give them food for free.

Sans would also offer to let Kris sleep in his shop that night as he knows Kris is homeless and wants to help.

He also isn't missing an eye here.

- It would be a rainy day outside and Kris would abruptly wake up in the morning from a loud thunder bolt noise, soaked in water and late for school.

- Alphys would be a very strict teacher but also very detached from her students, unable to make everybody proceed at the same pace.

- The entry in the dark world would be about the same, Alphys ORDERING Kris and Susie to get chalk, them trying to hurry up and get it so they don’t get in trouble, instead falling into the dark world.

- All the fun Lancer shenanigans are mostly gone due to him being in a different role this time but the general Dark World is still a pretty nice place, making a drastic contrast to the Light World having so many problems.

- The name of the Kris, Susie and Ralsei group would be “The NOT-Fun Gang”

-Kris and Susie would grow together as friends throughout the whole journey even more than in Deltarune, Ralsei would instead always remain “distant” from the two due to everything he’s done to seem likable was just an act on his part…

- This AU is Drowning me alive, I’m the unoriginal SeaStarwalker.
