At An Impasse by Metroid-Tamer At An Impasse by Metroid-Tamer
Second of the dolls I did for theRainbowOverlord's, "Champions of Hyrule" pageant. this one being meant for round two, "Picking a Side".

Technically Anthea didn't get to choose her side, but she sure as hell went with it. Anthea has faced Link and his allies several times over the course of her story. Link, however, is the most frustrating of her opponents as she can't kill him despite his age, skill and overall disadvantage against her. She's a sword spirit of fairly significant power and she's been able to do away with all of her opponents before. So why is it that this insignificant, powerless mortal can defeat her? And not just her but Ghirahim and everything they both throw Link's way too!

Anthea and Ghirahim have had their plans wrecked time and time again and by the time of the Fire Sanctuary, Anthea has had it with Link. Whereas Ghirahim becomes enraged by the loss, Anthea's becoming desperate to kill Link. She's desperate to show she's not a failure and that she can defeat a simple boy. Anthea is driving herself insane over this and is so furious that she makes an attempt on Link's life at the Fire Sanctuary after he defeats Ghirahim. After a small fight, Anthea pulls a cheaty tactic and warps behind Link too fast for him to react and runs him through on her blade. She narrowly misses his heart but doesn't know that due to her anger blinding her.

The reason I chose to focus on the "exit door" of the Fire Sanctuary boss room is due to her fight with Link. When she stabs him with the intent to kill, she leaves him behind to die slowly. She does so in front of the door to leave the same message he's been giving her -- failure. The sight of the door as he's helplessly dying is meant to be a reminder the entire time that he failed his quest and all of his allies. This is meant to mess him up emotionally just like he has done to her.

Of course she fails in her attempt to kill Link though. He lives and goes on to finish his quest. Though this pisses Anthea off later, lmao. When Link returns to the Eldin Region for the dragon's song piece, Anthea's forces catch him and knock him out. She then proceeds to not trust him and stab both of his hands before robbing him of his items and separating him from Fi. Though her distrust is well placed because Link overcomes this too.

On a final note, she should technically be in her second form like Ghirahim. Due to her story though, she doesn't enter that form at the beginning of the fight. Link has to wear her down into it, hence why she's not using it here.

I really love the visual style you're using with these though. It draws attention to Anthea but you also want to look at the background. :D Also amazing work! :heart:

That was probably a happy accident. XD I did this one first but it did teach me a little too. You can definitely tell better with the other two. |D
Thank you though! I'm super glad to hear it's liked. ; u;
