Perhaps my favorite part of the storytelling process is creating new characters. Not only do we get to invent their personalities, motives, and eccentricities, but in the visual medium of comix we get to decide what they look like as well.
Case in point - In our newest story titled "Making Friends", my artist collaborator WikkidLester and I needed three main characters. One is a male college student, a budding engineering prodigy who is sorely lacking in social skills. The second is a female college student - a foil for the male lead - who has a reputation as a ditz because she belongs to a campus sorority, but may offer more in the way of personality than expected. The we have a sidekick for the protagonist, a voluptuous female robot who remains stoically silent and unflinching even when the male lead does some debased things to her in the name of 'science'.
Our story is a study in the slow burn, perhaps to the chagrin of some of our readers. But I hope they will find the patience to allow us to develop the characters and storyline into something worth waiting for.
Anyone have any thoughts on our characters, or on character creation in general, that you'd like to share?
