Character Busts - WIP

Well, since I haven't posted any works in awhile, I figured that I might as well post a quick sample of one of the projects that I've been working on. ^_^
I wanted to try making some character busts that are fairly generic in nature, so that I can create one outfit, and simply adjust the line to fit the other builds with minor alterations.
At this point I've only finished the outline for the base, so the muscle tone will stand out more once they are fully colored.
For an additional note: each of the types in the picture has one of five jaw shapes that I've made, but I'm probably going to make more in the future.
I'm hoping to share this as a resource when it's officially done, though at this point I'm not sure how long that will be, or if I will charge anything for it.
As for content: I have some ideas in mind for outfits: traditional Victorian, steam-punk, futuristic uniforms, school uniforms, several maid outfits, Valkyrie armor, etc.
But please feel free to share any suggestions for content.
On a final note: I completely suck at anatomy (it's never been my finest point), so feel free to point out any errors, as it will help to improve the finished result.

That would probably depend on the type of game your looking at.
For an example, in the Ar tonelico series: each of the characters have several different expressions, but only one pose, while at the same time, some of the characters have more than one outfit, and having multiple poses would add a lot of data to the game.

Where with Mana Khemia: the characters only have one outfit and several different poses, based mostly around the type of mood that their in.

Multiple poses are great for games with a lot of humor, as they can add a little extra spice to a character's personality, serving much like emoticons do in a chatroom.
But it all really comes down to the type of game that you have in mind, and the amount of work, time, and in some cases money, that you intend to put in it.
There is also data space to take into account: with RPG Maker games, the creator first has to host it online, and the person that wants to play the game has to download it onto their computer.
So both single and multiple poses have their benefits and drawbacks.

I see your point. But with my example of Radiant Historia, throughout the entire game, the characters only had one outfit and one facial expression. Despite that, they all had character, unique personalities, quirks, and were very well developed. (I highly recommend it.) With Historia, the script and characters were so well-written that it didn't need voice acting, different faces, or any of that. I feel like that I should go with the singled face for the busts because it shows how strong the game can be without any gimmicks and just how good my writing can be. Thanks for the opinion; I always like a different opinion to consider. Now I'll be able to know what I want for my request into the forums.
I'm not an artist, so I DO need the help from the community; they are good people though.

No problem. ^_^
I haven't gotten around to Radiant Historia yet, but it's been on my list of to dos. (I still have so many PS2 era games to finish.
)
It can also depend on the art style that's used, Chrono Cross had single portraits, but I didn't particularly care for the style, and they didn't contribute to the story very well.
However, the original Chrono Trigger didn't use character portraits at all in game, and the characters had a stronger personality, but a lot of that can also be attributed to the sprites.
But like you said, it's the story that should always take the top priority, the earliest RPGs and adventure games didn't even have any graphics.
Good luck with your project!

Unfortunately no.
I don't have enough confidence in my skill to take requests yet, and I've also been having trouble with designing my own characters.
For the above character busts, the project is temporarily on hold, though I plan to get back to it when I can, it will have to wait until I've finished several other works.
But I will listen to and try to incorporate costume suggestions and ideas when I do; so if there is a character type your looking at, feel free to mention it here.

One thing that I would have to suggest, when you ask them to draw a character, make sure that the expression is as generic as possible, while at the same time appropriate for the character and any situation they might encounter.
Some examples of what I mean:
1. Everyone the character has ever known has just been killed, their expression:
2. Something incredibly wonderful just happened to the character and they are overjoyed, their expression:
Where a generic expression can and should work with any situation.

These are 2D busts, so it is not specifically for ComiPo (primarily RPG Maker and Ren'py), but you will be free to use them in any program or engine.
I've been at a temporary road block though, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to return to working on them (any costume suggestions or ideas are highly welcome though). ^_^;
