Chapter 6 Master Post
“Val?” There was a deep sigh, “Valerie?” a pause. “Oh for the love of sin. Valerie Karlin you can wake up now.”
Valerie awoke with a start and sat up, scattering the unrestrained fragments of her project across the floor. The girl reached for a pair of pliers what had fallen off the bench she was on. She threw the tool back into her case and looked up at the woman before her. Delindris stood tall above the young girl, icy blue wings folded neatly. Long moss green hair was tied back in a neat fashion along with the rest of her attire. An old brown leather best sat buttoned over a faded grey tunic, cinched around her waist with a thick belt, while long black pants fell over supple leather shoes. No matter how hard the former Warden tried, Delindris couldn’t help but look imposing.
The angel’s features soften a touch before she bent down to help recover the small scattered items. “I know I let you work in here during my classes Val but

Chapter 5 Master Post
Emily had stood there in silence as Darrian disappeared into the distance out through the industrial tier’s arch. She didn’t know what to think about him at all now, but the more she let it swim around in her mind the more it made sense. He kept refusing to show himself, and now she knew why. The memory burned within her mind, it was hard to mistake the look in his eyes. He wasn’t the same as she remembered though, so part of her wanted to not believe they were the same; the kesslan beside her however confirmed it.
The sudden weight of an arm lay across Emily’s shoulders and soft grey fur brushed the side of her face as Cassandra pulled the girl closer. “He gives a hell of a show doesn’t he?”
Emily snapped out of her stupor with a flinch. “Sorry. Uhh yes he does.”
Cassandra shook the girl slightly. “Aww don’t go getting lusty at him, he’s spoken for.”
Emily blushed, “no no, I was not. It was just -

Sylph moved silently, slinking around stacks of boxes and items she didn’t care about to follow the blue one out into the trees. “Quiet was needed, absolute quiet; not a sound. A sound and she’ll know” Sylph repeated in her head.
Long flowing white hair fell around her face, over her shoulders, but no matter how long it grew Sylph refused to cut it. Jet black scales covered her lithe dragon-like frame, cracked with fiery crimson. Horns curled from the back of her head, over pointed ears. Short spikes stuck out from her elbows. Vaelon they called her kind, the remnant of the dragons of long ago; souls jammed into the bodies of humans. It had some unexpected results but she enjoyed the feel of it. Better, much better than her old body. Easier to move around in, like the clothing she wore. A simple grey button up shirt, held closed by one or two buttons, the dusky red of her underbelly scales shown with each ripple of the cloth. Her brown pants were short, tattered

Darrian winced with every down stroke of his wings, even gliding arched him. He’d live easily but for the next few days it wouldn’t be pleasant.     Darrian touched down within the leisure tier’s pillar, landing reminding him just how hard that beating really was. He clutched at his right side, where he could feel a broken rib. It was easy enough to fix, turning his internal flesh and bone into metal, guiding the piece till it was aligned correctly, before fusing it whole. He sighed and breathed in and out to test his repair and found it sufficient enough to keep going.

It was a remarkable building in Darrian’s opinion, a towering three story drinking hall. Pillars made from whole sentinel pines. The stood tall and proud; two on each courner sticking outwards from the building while two move were indented on either side of the door. The door itself was meant to accommodate anyone, two elaborately decorated slabs of wood hung on oiled hinges. Windows streamed their soft light far above Darrian as he walked up to the doors and side stepped to let a group of three pass. They paid him no mind while he slipped in behind them.
The hall was a labour of love Darrian recalled. Dreamt up and hand built by Graus Bolton and his daughter Jaclyn. They spent months on it piece by piece, designing and crafting everything themselves, rarely asking for help. He remembered it, how Haven itself seemed to buzz with excitement every day from the people who would stop to watch the slow progress. The day it finished, everyone

The old story teller likes to build you up bigger than you are, no matter how much I remind him that you’re the humble one in the family.

Emily stared blankly at the scenery before her. The sun had only just begun to rise in the east when Darrian reigned in their kalarie. His temper had lessened after a few hours of sitting in the marker and by the following day he was completely back to normal; at least as far as she was concerned. So it didn’t surprise her to see Darrian lean over and point out a small stone pillar. The stone was worn smooth by time and the desert sands. At first Emily just took it to be a just an ordinary relic of some previous age, however when the first rays of sunlight fell upon the stone the surface shimmered a ghostly blue.
“What is that?” Emily inquired while studying it.
“These lodestones were left over from past civilizations. We managed to find out how they work and recreate them. Now they’re used as sign posts essentially. This one however is Haven’s.” Darrian explained.
    It was the ex

Darrian staggered slightly as the woman walked up to him. He was just now catching his breath, wincing with every attempt. She leaned in close, their noses almost touching. “So what am I supposed to do now? I have one unconscious prick lying in the middle of the road, a ruined work area, and all my workers have long since ran off. You’ve cost me a day; Karlin. How are you planning on making it up to me?”
Darrian sighed and bowed his head, closing his eyes in the process. “I’m sorry”.
“Damn straight you should be. The next time you and that half brother of yours want to fight out your little arguments; you take that shit outside my tier. Wreck someone else’s crap for a change. I have enough problems trying to reign these assholes in some days; I don’t need Gola to be one of my frequent problems.” She put her head on Darrian’s chest sighing, “I’m just

It happened fast, within the span of only a matter of seconds. Darrian ducked, a left handed punch from Gola sailing over his head. “Gauntlet: Equip” he breathed harshly and within a couple heartbeats both hands were armoured as he took a step forward, out from under the earth vaelon’s attack. Gola’s bulk loomed, casting a shadow over Darrian as he cemented his feet an punched upwards with both hands. “Twin Barrels!” Darrian roared, all his strength going into the attack.
Darrian’s fists sank into Gola’s abdomen, lifting the earth dragon off his feet. The momentum of Gola’s punch still carrying the brute through the air. Gola landed heavily on his back, the force of Darrian’s counter flipping him over. Darrian leapt into the air, right arm spinning once more, “Forge Rifle!”
Darrian’s hand once more cut through the air, except this time Gola saw it coming and dod

With a grunt Darrian pushed himself up, rubbled and the remains of a workbench sliding off him. His coat was torn in places and a headache screamed for attention. Regardless Darrian stood up straight, albeit a little shaken, and massaged the back of his neck. Ayden’s escape was the only consolation to be had even if it didn’t quite feel worth the trouble. Darrian could feel the ground shake with every step Gola took through the soles of his boots. His mind spun trying to figure out what his cousin was after now. Ayden was l

“Nothing at all Darrian; I promise!” he swore. “Now can you let me go?”
Emily inspected the boy, “what is he?”
“Pelani” Darrian answered, and after a moment added onto his statement, “you’ve probably never been to Eden so I wouldn’t expect you to know what a monkey is -”
A roar silenced him and everyone else within the vicinity. It was a dull thunderous noise that made tools rattle and fall off benches. The floor trembled and Emily could hear the metallic squeaking of catwalks as they creaked. When the sound stopped, everyone else did; even machinery held its breath. A wrench slipped off someone’s bench, hitting the ground with a metallic ping that reverberated like a bell, cutting through the deathly silence and snapping everyone back into motion. They all ran, everyone ran, pushing their way through as quickly as possible; t

Darrian crossed their gap in two strides and embraced Evelyn, lifting the smaller girl off her feet. “Congratulations!” he exclaimed. “I’ve been wondering when that girl would propose to you. So, what time is your wedding?”
“Tomorrow at 21:00 or around then!” she beamed. “You are most lucky you made it back in time.”
“Or what would you have done? Hmmm? Purr at me most threateningly no  doubt.”
Evelyn looked at Darrian slyly. She pursed her lips, “maybe I would.”
Darrian laughed, “alright alright. I yield today. Ummm if you don’t mind I’ve gotta get going Evelyn. Miss Alistair has to some people to meet and I have some things to get to.”
    “Fine” she mockingly pouted.
Darrian ruffled her hair, “oh don

It's been one year since I began putting the story on Patreon. I could be all annoyed and so forth about the lack of presence it creates but that to me is unimportant. I did what I set out to do...write this book. Every three days for one year I have toiled away to bring you...you my invisible silent readers who I don't even know if you exist...a world, an adventure you've never seen before. It might only be the first draft and a lot has to be done before it ever sees the final copy, but this is where it begins. It begins with dedication and perseverance. It begins with progress and every update, every new page, every idea and word brings me closer to seeing this book in my hands and on a shelf somewhere. Let's be honest. I want to keep going, I have no intention of stopping. After Sands of Memory comes Tides of Freedom, and then up to four more books in the series. Then there's the plethora of short stories, the next series in the line up. Dylaera will never stop, with or with out me I don't want it to. I want this world to live long past I do, and to do that it begins here. With me, with you. Together with writer and reader we can make this series, this world, into something undying.

It begins with us...

So to celebrate one year I drew up a banner for the Patreon. Is it perfect? Nope, but I go at it with the same dedication I give the story. Makes it look more inviting or so I hope.

Quote of the Journal:
Jack: "Well that's a fuckin' bummer. Hey guys don't go near the dragon. I know it's for the king-"
Soldiers: "FOR THE KING!"
*screaming off screen*
Random Soldier: "I picked a hell of a days to stop drinking" *charges in*.
Jack: "The fuck is wrong with these people?"
