When commissioned (1913) this was the most advanced battlecruiser in the world, among the first ships of any kind to mount 356 mm main battery guns. Unlike previous Japanese dreadnoughts Kongo had a thinner armor belt, while deck armor and torpedo protection were reinforced.

I can spend hours on YouTube watching old archival film of warships and tanks, much like some guy will spend on Pornhub watching other things.
