Paradise Vanished by Merlin111 Paradise Vanished by Merlin111
Sometimes there is nowhere to run or to rest.

First of several Angel pictures I have underway, and probably the darkest.

Oil on canvas 60cm x 76cm.

Photo reference the excellent stock image from Bumimanusiastock.

Wow, this kind of reminds me of my latest DA-ID, small World huh.

The concept of innocence trapped within tormented confines always intrigues me., you have captured the point of reconciliation to defeat perfectly, bravo!

Thank you, there certainly is a resemblance to your ID. Some ideas are just too good and seem to be repeated constantly.

Really nice...I love the glow of the lava through the cracks in the ground, and the fire itself in the background. Not to mention the shininess of her hair, dress & wings, so perfectly black.

This is a beautiful painting, the colours you have used are perfect and I love the way you have done the wings. They look almost real, it's like I could reach out and touch them. Really very stunning!

This is a stunning composition! I like the way that you painted the fire cracks snaking all around her. The flames in the background are a nice contrast. The scene really fits well with her expression too. Excellent! I love it!  :+fav:

Thank you again. I am a bit disappointed that my photograph of this painting does not convey the range of colours in this work properly. But still I am quite proud of it :)

You're most welcome and you should be proud of it because it is an excellent work!! :w00t: I know what you mean about photographs not being accurate with regard to color. I haven't been able to take really good photos of my large work. I'm lucky to be able to scan some of the others. That isn't totally accurate either but it's good enough for me. Anyway, your painting is brilliant and I love it!

...this is looking wonderful to me,Allen.It's-you,your kind of painting, and though,it's,you,in a "new way."I couldn't tell you why I'm feeling this, but it seems "different"in the way you expressed emotions here.I like the concept,I like the colours, and what is coming out from all the contrasts.I've drawn myself a kind of such "black angel"few months ago, called "sarcasMAN"in a totally different way,of course.I like the "provocation"of the black choosen instead of the usual white known angels. She's pretty. The fire behind here is magnificent.
When you say "paradise vanished",do you mean ,that paradise "disappeared,or that she disappeard(or run away from it?)I s this "choosen solitude"?or "escaping"?She is looking lost, and "set free"at the same time...
really a gorgous piece,my dear friend!congratulations:)

Thanks Flo
By Paradise Vanished I meant that this was once heaven, but now a part of hell. The angel has found her home gone and now has nowhere to go. It is only a matter of time before all is lost in flame.

I tried to add feeling into the background as well as projecting the angel’s emotions of despair and loneliness.

Before I started this painting I already had a picture of an angel in white underway and wanted to do angel in black to contrast this. Unfortunately haven’t finished the Angel in white yet and I am thinking restarting it. The choice of black was to ask the question is the Angel good, evil or something in-between? And does she deserve this fate?...
Thanks again my friend.

...very interesting subject, indeed, dear Allen. When I first saw the backround in fire,I didn't think a second of "hell".More, that paradise was "distroyed".And if she is wearing the "black "dress,I interpretate it more with "sorrow",than "bad,or evil"(but thatis my personal opinion, and anyway,is also different in some "cultures".
What is so amazing about this painting,is that ,it evokes "reflection"to analyze, the personal emotion, and the emotion of the artist...This is art to me!:)
