CogMonocle Blond Fox Mask by merimask CogMonocle Blond Fox Mask by merimask
I was commissioned to make another Steampunk fox mask with a cog-monocle eye. This one turned out really cute! Doing the fox without the cogs and gears carved on the face is an interesting idea...makes it less robotic-looking. Hmm!

Made of leather, goggle parts, brass fittings, acrylic paint and love.

Custom masks like this one can be requested at my online shop: [link]

I really like this mask! Really neat. However, the red lens bothers me for some reason. I can't help but think it could use a light green or a turquoise lens... Actually, a lens the color of the carpet there would work really well! But other than that, I think this is a masterpiece. I wish I could work on leather ;~;

The way you merge the leather and the monocle- or any gear for that matter- is impeccable! The color choices compliment the metal additive, without swallowing it up. It's superb!

I love the strap you used. The bolts in the temples (or screws) really complement the mask and strap as a whole =) very well done job as always!

Thanks! I figured it's okay for the screws to show because it just kind of adds to the theme. I could have used smooth rivets but these are nicer and also, adjustable.

I like the gold color brushed over the white. Somehow it has a very... Desert sort of feel to it. Reminds me of Australia, for whatever reason.

This looks pretty damn awesome, and I can also definitely see uses for it in LARP (whether as a mask in itself or a face for a fox character)

Neat idea: steampunk LARP. Do people do that? :)

They do indeed! 1318's the main one I know of* (UK-based), but I'm pretty sure there're more out there.

OH! This is fun! Have you ever read the legend about the Dragon who's eye was a large ruby? Once every year the dragon had to take it out to take a bath. It was said if someone happened to take the dragon's ruby eye then, they could own the world because of how much it was worth. The red goggle eye reminded me of that.
