Description
This is the first piece in a series I call "Pagan Past Pyrography".
(Don't ask me if I was intoxicated when I came up with this)
Wolf warrior from Gutenstein sword scabbard (side and front view). Pyrography on pinewood slice.
Warriors masked as wolves or wearing wolf furs were connected to Wodan/Odin and appear frequently in Dark Age Germanic imaginery, especially on silver pressbleche from Scandinavia, Germany, and England.
