I'm a jack of all trades who's trying to become a Renaissance man.
I have been painting and drawing since childhood, although there have been many periods of artistic standstill (we've all had those, right?). My parents recognized my talent on early age and hired an artist to teach me some techniques. Years later I attended weekend classes at the School of Arts in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I focused on fine art. My interests are extremely diverse and this all too often prevents me from spending much time creating art.
I studied media design and graduated on the subject of 'Game Design for Specific Audiences'. I love game design. It is like playing God, but without the ethical dilemmas that are usually associated with that kind of thing . I have professional experience in many facets of game development - 3d modeling, programming, gamedesign, 2d art and whatnot - as well as experience in web design - especially as a flash designer/-developer.
I have an unstoppable hunger for knowledge and culture. I love to read the classics and watch tons of movies when I get the chance. Knowledge and culture are two of the most precious things in my life. If in times of personal disaster understanding won't give me comfort, art surely will.
Recently, I decided it was about time to pick up the brush again. I feel like I'm way below my potential and joined deviantArt to learn and improve my basic technique. I'm especially interested in improving my game related 2d art skills. I hope to share some of that process here and get some useful comments.
