Ever looked at the art by osprey publishing? Like Steven Zaloga, Stephen Turnbull, Rene chartrand, Angus Konstam & Angus Mcbride? Should be right up your alley

Angus McBride is a big influnce in my artwork

You interested in the gunpowder era? Personally I didn’t develop much interest in it until recently, but my first beginning into looking at the era was with the maori when I learned indigenous forces could fight with guns & earthworks as effectively as Europeans, & how matchlock to flintlock guns were across Eurasia, the Americas, and part of africa & oceania. I wonder how a fantasy world would look like if non-european countries developed platemail and gunpowder, it’s something almost impossible to imagine. How would one convert weaponry of the Americas & oceania into a world with plate-mail?
I really liked his diversity how he did such parts of the world over such a long time period, the only DA artist i know with similar depth of world history is @Garmbargin
I’m curious with your world building experiment about if you have a desire to “expand the map”, like this artist Gambargin with different places & time-periods
