Do you want to create your own meme?!

As you know there are limitless ways to create a Meme. It has many layouts and styles and no real base or tutorial to use. Here are some simple steps to think about when creating a basic Meme.

Keep in mind, that these are not official steps or requirements to create a Meme. If you have any concerns or questions, please let us know.

step one: Think of the main subject.
What is the subject of your meme? What is it going to be about, based on, etc. Is it random? Personal? Fun? Strict? About favorite games or people? Once you can think of the overall subject of your meme, it will help with the kind of content you want in the body of your meme.

step two: Think of body.
The body is the main point of your meme. This is where you place questions, tasks, or requests. Most importantly; the rules of your meme. Write down some questions or statements you might use. Do you want to use alot of questions? Memes doesn't always have to be question-oriented memes. They can be about improvements, art styles, life, or have no questions at all. Be careful of the contents of your meme. Do not violate any of deviantArt's Rules and the rules of this group.

step three: Think of the layout.
Do you want to keep the basic meme layout? Create your own layout? Don't make the layout too complex. Keep it simple and to the point.

step four: Think a good title.
This is a very most important rule. You want a title that captures the subject of your Meme. Putting a random title that doesn't work or makes sense will not help promote your meme when deviants search for it.

Now for the technical part of creating a Meme: Creating your meme. There are many ways to create a base for a meme. Two common ways are for visual are and for writings.

Part 1: Create the base.
Are you creating a art-based meme or a written meme? If it is a written meme, you can use the Text option on DeviantART itself. For art-based memes, you can use any kind of graphic/paint program (Photoshop, Gimp, Sai, MS Paint, Open Canvas, etc.) Don't make the template too small or way too large. Really large Template can cause slow downloads. If you are creating a Meme traditionally; you can use regular paper.

You can choose a blank base template provided by the group here: Blank Memes

Part 2: Insert the Title, Rules, or Tasks.
Keep in mind of the deviants going to do your meme. You want to give them enough space to draw, write, or take photographs. It is important to also choose a Font that people can read and understand, yet, still be unique to the Meme's theme, if it has one. If you choose not to put your rules in the meme, provide them in the Artist Comments. Traditional-made Memes must have legible handwriting.

Part 3: Design the body.
This is the fun part. Once you have placed all your questions and tasks, you can start designing the body. Drawing images after questions, placing borders or graphically designing the background/borders to the theme of the meme.

Part 4: Save and Submit your Meme.
Once you have created your meme and you're satisfied with it, be sure to SAVE. Memes with transparent backgrounds should be saved as a .PNG. Traditional-made memes should make sure that when they scan their memes, it is readable. Make sure that your scan is at least full quality, being around 300ppi. Once that is completed, you can now submit it your gallery and the group for everyone to see! Don't forget to allow the Memes to be Downloadable so people can have the full version. When picking the category in DeviantART simply choose: Category >> deviantART Related >>Devious Fun >> Memes
