Wolf spiders are unique in the way that they carry their eggs. The egg sac, a round silken globe, is attached to the spinnerets at the end of the abdomen, allowing the spider to carry her unborn young with her. The abdomen must be held in a raised position to keep the egg case from dragging on the ground, however despite this handicap they are still capable of hunting. Another aspect unique to wolf spiders is their method of infant care. Immediately after the spiderlings emerge from their protective silken case, they clamber up their mother's legs and crowd onto her abdomen.

Because they depend on camouflage for protection, they do not have the flashy appearance of some other kinds of spiders. In general their coloration is appropriate to their favorite habitat.

Great picture here. I honestly think it's adorable that she carries them on her back. She's such a great mommy. I recently watched a documentary about wolf spiders with David Attenborough, and in the video, the babies have the instinct to crawl on her back. It's like an human infant who automatically snuggles against its mommy.

Anyways, great job again.

One time, my mom stepped on a momma holding eggs, and all the babies ran in all directions after the momma died. It was like an ocean of baby spiders! I was soooo scared, and my mom started jumping around trying to squish them all. XD

Not a spider fan but this is adorable, xD

And considering alot of people would never guess it, it's amazing to learn that even some species of spiders have very strong maternal instinct!

Of course, it's a spider, they're designed to do that. They have eyes pointing in all directions, and their legs grow back I'm pretty sure. Much like a crab.
