This is awesome.
I think it's interesting how Vulcan and Hephaestus are, essentially, the same god, but the cultures thought about them quite differently.
There's a frieze of Vulcan from Pompeii that looks exactly like the Hephaestus on a Greek vase, right down to the hat, although the pose is a standing pose rather than a sitting one. Most Roman statues show Vulcan bearded and, if anything, more richly dressed than the Greek version. I really wanted to distinguish the two, though, so for my references I used an early Hephaestus, and a Vulcan from a much later period.
