oh wow. It has been a while, hasn't it? I've been working on my thesis. And illustrating a book. This is from the book, not my thesis.

Abbie Hilton has written the Prophet of Panamindorah YA series, and the slightly-older-audience Cowry Catchers, for which this is an illustration. She's also written a chapter book for beginning readers, 'Feeding Malachi,' about a charming pet rat, her family, and her mysterious new friend. I've worked with her on several of these books, which can be found over at and, as well as on Amazon and other book hubs.

Eep! Go, Dakar, go! O_O;;;

But seriously, this is a GORGEOUS piece. After finding you via Abbie Hilton's 'Cowry Catchers', I've become a fan. *waves hello* Your watercolors are jaw-droppingly stunning. Every time I see one it's like being punched with a big fist of awesome. In this painting, I love the way you did the froth of bubbles surrounding Dakar & Co. and the waves crashing below and above. I also really like the way you did your wash, working from the inky blue-black depths at the bottom of the page to the bright reds and oranges at the top.

Silvio looks amazing - the line of his body clinging to Dakar is so lovely, and I love the way you did his floating hair and tail. (Poor Gerard looks like he's having a much worse time of it. LOL! His darker coloration adds to his sense of weight in this piece.)

Anyhoo, I'll stop babbling and shut up now.

Hiiiii. Thank you for your wonderful wonderful comment! I have a secret stash of other work I've done for her on my tumblr,, if you want to go digging. She gave me permission to post more stuff there because, as she put it, anyone who manages to FIND me there deserves the reward!

Please continue babbling, wherever you find something you want to babble about! Comments like these, where someone notices things like the wash and color-weight and line and texture, just make me feel so happy and good about the work. Someone noticed! Someone cares about the same things I do! Someone might help me improve! (also I like your hyperbole.)

I like the colorfull part on top. I think it adds to the overall sense of movement in the picture. (Of course the rest is really good too, but that's what chaught my attention!)

There are Shapes in the water! Looks iffy for those two clinging to the diving creature. Lovely work!

Hee, looks like I made them not-subtle enough! Excellent.

Also very, very glad to know that the two characters clinging to the water-wyvern come across. For a while I was having a lot of difficulty with that, what with the wing in the way and all the bubbles and their unusual leg anatomy that doesn't read immediately as 'humanoid character!' Thank goodness that worked out.
