My heart flutters... by Melomiku My heart flutters... by Melomiku
She walked down the sidewalk with her friend, going to the big tree on the hill. They sat beside each other, laughing and getting to know each other more. Her companion was as happy as she was, and always smiled when she laughed. Of course, some of you think it would be a girl, but actually, it was a boy. Same age, though a bit older than her, and had the same traits as the girl. Kind, outgoing, and quite clever. Yet, the girl never knew the boy liked her, because they sort of just met a month ago. The boy was shy around the girl sometimes. But he always wanted to ask her what love was to her. What it meant to be loved, in her perspective. Turning his head, he gathered up the courage, stared at her, and finally said: "Hey, um... I was just wondering what does love mean to you?" he said. The girl looked at him, a bit confused with the question. Asking these kinds of questions would make someone suspicious. She looked at the beautiful orange-blue sky. She replied:

"Love...flies. It searches for a resting stop. Once it finds one, it lands. The landing could be a bit awkward, or maybe a bit too fast. It might be too bored, and it could fly somewhere else. It might be too rough of a landing and it couldn't stay because of the pain. It might be because the other one couldn't return the favor. But once it finds that perfect stop, it loses it's wings. Then it rests in that person forever."

The boy widened his eyes. It was so in detail about what it meant to her. He didn't know she loved somebody before him. So he gathered up his courage again and said right to her:

"I had love fly too. It's wings were sort of broken, so it landed awkwardly, but it didn't hurt itself. It was cared for, so the person who had it was very kind. I think it's still resting, but it's also waiting for a response."

The girl smiled. "Whoever that person is, she should be happy to have someone like you. You're smart, talented, and brave. You're also very caring, which is rare in most boys." She said.

"She is happy. She's there for me, trying her best. She's so creatively artistic, happy, and outgoing. She's also... she's also...right here." He lifted up his phone. "Can I see?" The girl was wondering who the special girl was. "Hey! No peeking!" The boy said. She closed her eyes. He quietly put away his phone. Then, he leaned forward and kissed her. The girl opened her eyes and wanted to pry away, but something washed over her. She closed her eyes again. They let go. The boy's face was flushed and looked down.

"I love you."

The girl leaned her head against his.

"I guess... I love you too."

The heart lost it's wings. It finally rested in that person.
