The Crimson River *Chapter 17, Part 4* A hushed bark sounded from behind Eclipse as the latter was leaving. The dark wolf froze and turned around. It was hard to see anything but a silhouette from this distance. "Who...?" Before Eclipse could finish his sentence, the stranger picked up and threw something.
It slid past him.
Eclipse didn't dare let himself be distracted by it. "Who are you?"
"There are two who may target yourself and your pups. Stay clear of their path, lest your time will be up," the canid spoke. Then he walked out of sight.
"What? Wait!" Eclipse ran after him, rounding the corner...only to find nothing there. "Hello?" he called.
The blue-eyed wolf waited a few seconds more before going to inspect what the stranger had thrown.
"Don't be so glum," Lily said, rolling on her back below Thunder so that he
Dreams ~Chapter 1, Part 4~ "I see..." Blue replied, accepting his responsibility of the situation. "Can I ask you something...? Err...how much did you see?"
"I saw the whole thing while I was patrolling the border," Rubescent explained. "You two came out of nowhere, and I was all the way at the edge when it happened. The first thing I did when I got back was tell Wildfire." He gestured to the horse with long black mane who was scolding Scarlet.
"Then...where were their guards...?"
The amber-eyed pegasus tensed. While Blue hadn't spotted any on the other side, he also never noticed Rubescent in the distance. Seeking either of them out was the last of his worries at the time. If his uncle had been as attentive as he claimed, surely he would've seen the guards if they were there.
Before the other stallion could answer, Scarlet raised her voice with frustration. "If they wanted us dead,
Dreams ~Chapter 1, Part 3~ Blue left his cousin and walked to the southeastern side of the prairie where he lowered his head to graze, even though he wasn't hungry. The cause may be stress, boredom, or a combination thereof. All he knew for sure was that, while eating, he would be left alone out of respect.
He closed his reddish-brown eyes and tried to clear his head. The sound of his own chewing started to grate on his nerves. With a growl of frustration, he pulled away from the grass.
"I told you, it was an accident!" Scarlet's shout carried over from a fair distance away. Blue turned to see that her mother--a black horse--was giving her an earful. Did she decide to tell her parents after all? "I can't go back and change it, so what do you want me to do?"
"I'm just telling you to be more careful in the future," the dark mare shouted back.
Blue faced away again, not wanting to eavesdrop.
The Crimson River *Chapter 17, Part 3* Eclipse managed to sniff out another rat colony. His stomach growled from the smell... Then it churned. He tensed, a small sense of panic taking hold of him.
Someone dangerous was hunting there.
More options weighed against each other in his mind. If Eclipse waited for whoever-was-there to leave, they might catch him on their way out. But if he abandoned the newly-found colony, he may not be able to find another one... And time was of the essence.
Time? Well, it was better late than never, which would result from his death if precautions weren't taken. He'd come back to this colony after the threatening wolf was gone. In the meantime, he'd search for another one.
His thoughts wandered back to the one they had heard skulking around, and he wondered if that was the identity of the hunting canid. Eclipse hadn't sensed danger from them before, however the
