My name is Melissa; some people call me melipop. I was born in cold, bohemian Montreal many moons ago but in 2008 my family decided to move to tropical, sunny Panama (Central America). I followed. It wasn't easy at first... I had to give up on a lot of dreams and ideas about life. With time (and a little sun), it got easier. So easy in fact, that I ended up falling in love with beautiful, tropical, sunny Panamá and I've been living the tropical dream ever since. Although I started painting when I was a kid, my art needed a sunny kick-in-the-butt that Panama was more than glad to provide. So here I am today, almost four years later. Ha

When I was a kid, I loved showing off. I enjoyed drawing and painting because I thought I was really good at it. Needless to say, I wasn't. I liked the thought of being an artist before I actually became one. If this sounds familiar to you, then you shouldn't despair. It takes time (years of practice) and it takes a decisive moment but if you set out to become an artist, you might succeed. Here is the first part of why I, and how, I became one. ----- The year was 2003 and I was 12 years old. It was Christmas and my mother's aunt had been taking some painting lessons. As a result of those lessons, she decided to give her only niece a gift
