Rubaiyat sample by melanippos Rubaiyat sample by melanippos
A small section of the 4.5m that is the first scroll of my Masters PhD project.
Which involved illustrating the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
The plant *isn't* Mother of Millions - though it is sometimes mistakenly called that and is related to the actual species of that name. This is 'resurrection plant' and pretty much every leaf will sprout another six or more clones of the plant. Needless to say it's a pretty invasive species.
The bird is a sacred kingfisher, one which we see in the local woodlands.

You don't happen to have a higher-resolution scan of this so we poor half-blind old ladies (makes pitiful face) with cheap low-res monitors (makes broke face) can see the details and read the lovely calligraphed verses, do you?

WOW, no wonder they call it "resurrection plant"! As always, your illustrations is stunning in accuracy, as well as design/composition. You can merge technical illustration with artistic presentably in a seamless fashion!
