January - December 2012.

UGH. I JUST FEEL LIKE I NEVER GET TO DO ENOUGH ART AND I NEVER UTILIZE MY FULL SKILLS OR PUT IN ENOUGH EFFORT. IT MAKES ME SO SAD. ;____;
I feel like it was hard to find art for every month. Sometimes I'd only have one thing worth posting (while the rest are doodles hidden in my sketchbook or the scraps section probably lol).

Anyway, have a look at my art summary as picked out from my gallery of "finished" work.

I know my descriptions tend to get long, but posting things in DA in art form and writing the descriptions is really the only way I can document my life (I don't have a diary, post on facebook, blog, or journal thoughts on tumblr/twitter/anything). These are like mini journal entries to me. xD

January - [link] - I had a bunch of Secret Santas and general stuff to complete for my group #SGPA in January, so I don't think I did a great deal of ART art. This picture happened to get finished on January 1st for the #fireemblem-club Secret Santa, making it a New Year's gift more than a Santa one, but oh well! XD I drew a horse!

February - [link] - I did a bunch of group event stuff at this time too (Valentine's~), so there were a few romantic-themed pictures here and there, but my favourite was this one that I did in a limited colour palette.. of Heimdl being alone lol. It's partially inspired by *HamletMachine. I always wanted to do a picture of Heimdl with a ruined cityscape of some sort in the background. This isn't quite it, but I like it anyway. XD

March - [link] - This month, I actually had to do a lot of art for OTHER people who were not able to complete their Gift Exchange art in a reasonable timeframe. That's just rude and I don't like people being disappointed. Though it bothered me that I had to do someone else's work for them, I enjoyed that I got to practice on doing really fast art. I also made a bunch of character profiles for #SGPA this month~! The image here, I took more time on because it was an art trade and I wanted to play again with a limited palette and cel-shading. I liked the creepy effect in the end~!

April - [link] - I did a bunch of linearts this month of sexy/kissy pictures so I could collab with others and get them to colour it~! In the end though, my most ambitious effort this month was the thing you see there. That's actually an animated gif! It took 56 frames and lasts only about 9 seconds. >_> And it was gruelling. Yet I one day want to animate to a music video? Yeah. Okay. lol It's a cute and funny GIF though, and I'm still happy I made it.

May - [link] - This month, I spent a lot of time making small artwork of my 18ish characters at the time in #SGPA. It was to put together a huge collab with other members of the group. I kind of enjoyed how fast I worked to pump out 18 pieces of art and then put the whole thing together, including characters from many other members. I really like the mish mash sticker effect going on. XD

June - [link] - This month, I worked on commissions a lot. (well, a couple of them... lol). I was also running another contest and decided to do some explanation deviations (stuff that explains my concepts I use or world building aspects), which I love to do. But I somehow doubt many people read them because when I get into details.. I can get REALLY LONG-WINDED! (Just like the description for this meme I'm filling!). Anyway, the image I have here is a commission I did of two anthro otters playing Super Smash Bros Melee~! I miss drawing anthro characters actually, but I kind of need to build a style from it again since its been so long.

July - [link] - This month, I made more characters yet again for my group because I totally love just introducing characters and slowly inviting people into my mad world. XD I didn't really like the way I coloured this piece and am looking to recolour it again once I update other characters first, but one thing I do like are the details I usually add into character designs. I kind of limited it when adapting the first set of #SGPA characters to be more consistent with a kids' animated show flow, but I figured I should work back on my more.. "default" style instead. XD

August - [link] - More character adaptation this month~! I joined another group called #Myriad-Saga that was more fantasy-focused, which always jives better with me because I can't be arsed to understand modern technology/architecture/fashion. lol I adapted about 4 characters and wrote long-winded backstories and stuff. Plus I got to work more in my default style and practice colouring. I hadn't drawn a very feminine-feminine character for a while and thought Orleien would be the perfect opportunity to practice on daintiness some more.

September - [link] - I worked on another commission this month and then adapted my last character into #Myriad-Saga. Then I did a bunch of character design sheets for those characters as a group event thing. Which is cool. I like character design sheets a lot. I just feel like I never have time to do them properly. XD I'm always up for having a good excuse to do things I'm already supposed to be doing~! However, after all that work, I wanted to just work on a personal pleasure piece (lol, now now, kids, don't get too mind-in-the-gutter!). So I made another limited palette cel-shaded image featuring Heimdl and Altaire.

October - [link] - Around this time, I got into somewhat of a major art slump. I think I was getting all weird and anxious about all the art I never got done but felt OBLIGATED to, and instead of making me feel motivated to do them, it caused crazy procrastination/inertia instead. ._. I tried to get out of the funk by just drawing a character that I liked being "cool". So here's Asfir.. being cool. XD I was happy with the result, but that was kind of short-lived and didn't really light my fuse. Luckily, it somewhat helped cement an idea for a group event that #Myriad-Saga was holding and also reminded me my love of sketchy linework.

November - [link] - My month-long procrastination continued and I was getting kind of depressed and fed up. I knew I HAD to break out of it. I hadn't drawn anything, not even a doodle for about 3 weeks by the end of November and I was feeling desperate! Luckily, a deadline was coming up and I built up the motivation to just go. Just do it! It's actually easy for me to really get going and lose sleep and just focus on the task at hand when I get into "art mode"--but the problem is actually getting into that mode i the first place! So in the last week of November, I did nothing but go to work, come home, basic needs, and work on a 45 panel comic as a concentrated effort to break my procrastination loop. This was a preview image using some panels I got done in order to motivate me to finish the rest. I didn't actually complete the comic until December 1, but most of the legwork was done in the last week of November though sheer willpower XD (finished comic can be seen here: [link] ).

December - [link] - FINALLY! I feel like I can say I am out of my slump! I got something done and it was big and I could keep going! I got to finish 3 pieces of prize art I was obligated to do. And I felt good knowing that I did them pretty well! And I worked on Gift Exchange art as well. The picture shown here is my favourite piece because it took extra time to figure out how to compose the bodies and get the anatomy looking acceptable. Plus it helps that I like these characters a lot. XD I started posting more random things like world-building and ongoing projects in order to keep my motivation levels up. You know, generally feel like I have a goal to accomplish. In the last week of December, I want to feel another motivation burst to get major projects done. EVEN IF IT IS POORLY DONE. IT WILL GET DONE.

SO HOPEFULLY.. THINGS WILL GET DONE.
YOU CAN DO IT, SELF! Xl
