Can’t wait to play the game now!!

Good day. I've had this artwork of yours in my collection since a while, but I feel that now is the perfect time to leave a critique. Congratulations on the DD, by the way.

First and foremost, please keep in mind that I'm no visual artist, and my critique will therefore focus on the emotions I believe this piece to convey, while also including my personal take on it. Know from the beginning that I consider this artwork so good it deserves to be compared to the actual scene in the game itself, so be prepared.

For starters, I would like to mention how the overall piece, despite being magnificent, transmits a feeling of fatality. By choosing to place Skull Kid on a ledge higher than the Hero of Time, you implicitly communicate the fact that the latter is at the mercy of Majora themselves. Such a thing is a nice change of pace when compared to the usual Hero vs. Villain artworks, where the hero in question is typically situated at the villain's same height. Nice touch.

Moreover, the area looks more narrow than how I remember it to be. This comes to your advantage because, once again, it all works together to corroborate the fact that Skull Kid is the one in charge. Personally, it's as if the masked one was standing in his own throne room, evil tyrant whose mask is as concealed as his face, the Hero before him as if to unmask his true colors and machinations. This, more than anything else you could think of, makes your piece more than worthy of being put side to side with the real thing, as the feeling of doom it evokes is nearly the same.

There's more to say before I wrap this up, though: see how the Hero is standing on his narrow, seemingly floating flower, surrounded by dark water which reflects the measly flames and acts as obstacle between him and Skull Kid. This, my friend, could be thought as the huge difference in terms of sheer power between the two when they first meet: the kid, his power as feeble as a floating flower, pitched against the masked one, who bears a potential as vast, deep and obscure as the pond itself. By using such symbolism, you make it seem as if all hope is lost, because everything stands on the still frail shoulders of a mere kid, bound to fall to the mighty one before him.

Very excellent. Merry Critmas, by the way.

Hello, I know this is a popular topic, but I've found your artwork being sold again today on Facebook through the "Legend of Zelda Fans" Facebook page. I've left this comment on the link and messaged the admin personally:

Hi, not sure if anyone is aware or if the comments that mention this are just getting taken down, but this artwork belongs to an artist named Mei-Xing. They are not making any money from the sales of this painting and have been blocked from many sites for trying to claim rightful owner ship. It's worth looking into. You can find there account linked to this comment.… Thanks! :)'

I hope this helps! This is a stunning piece of art, and you deserve to get all the credit and sales profits.

Hey, this might be a repeat of the last comment on here, but a page on Facebook is selling your work without your permission. Not sure if this the page you've already tried to report.…
Mei-Xing Featured By Owner Jan 4, 2017  Professional Digital Artist
yeah I know, like I've said before they keep reuploading once they take one down, and I've been blocked from their facebook page so can't really do much. They made a new FB page when I reported the old one....and now I saw they're selling Forest Temple lol....
LynKofWinds Featured By Owner Jan 4, 2017
Ugh :// I'm so sorry. That's ridiculous. I think it's funny how people always look down upon artists, saying how easy it is to make art, or whatever, but then go and take their work and use it as their own without any credit whatsoever. I mean they're making money off of what you created.
Mei-Xing Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2017  Professional Digital Artist
Yeah pretty much. And its definitely very frustrating. It ruined my December month when this happened, and they're still abusing it.
But now I try to see from the perspective that they don't gain anything valuable in the long run. Whereas for me, when I created these, they've helped me get jobs doing concept art for video games, met a lot of other zelda fans (like you), and helped me get my art out there online.
If something is only for money and greed, nothing good ever comes out of it.
LynKofWinds Featured By Owner Jan 6, 2017
Wow, that was actually pretty deep. XD But it's 100% true. You're actually doing things with your life and I guess the joke really is on them in the long run. You have this little community of your own you've created, and you have a story to tell. They'll never have that.
However I still wish you the best of luck and I hope that maybe one day this all can be fixed. :// You deserve the money for yourself and everything you do.

I definitely found your work from some online shop on facebook advertising it as a wall hanging.... glad I google image searched before purchasing it (I love this so and will be purchasing soon as I can =D) Just thought you should know it's going around D= I'm so sorry I don't have the link to it to report it to you proper...  Anyways.. I hope you're able to look into it I hate that someone is spreading your work around like that.. but am I happy I found the original artist.
Mei-Xing Featured By Owner Jan 2, 2017  Professional Digital Artist
thankyou! yeah I've reported them multiple times and tried taking legal action but they keep ignoring and reuploading trying to make money from them. Because I don't own Zelda, I can't really do anything - only Nintendo. It's nice though at least the cool people know where to find me (like you just did :) ) and get the real version of the prints without cropped watermarks. Appreciate the generosity <3

yeah! I did the same because I wanted to know the artist and I saw that you was selling it at society6. I'm sorry for you, it's really bad that some people stole it and take profit of your amazing art and hard work.

Saw you at smash today and bought a whole bunch of your zelda prints. Sadly you were sold out of this one and this has got to be my favourite out of all of them, definitely getting this one as well. I love the landscapes and architecture in your work, its so beautiful. Keep up the great work and hopefully i might run into you again at another convention. Wish I got you to sign the prints I bought today, maybe next time.

My goodness I literally do not have enough words to describe how phenomenal this is.
I just adore the textures, the brushwork, and all the tiny little details that really make this piece. The vibrant colors, the composition, the play with lighting, everything is just flawless. You really nailed the sinister atmosphere and how the eye gets immediately drawn to Skull Kid's. Everything from the way your eye travels up the tree that you've created so much depth in, to the very bottom reflections in the water, this is truly perfect

I feel bad for the fellow between the flames. He has to listen to two of those horrid fairies talk to him all the time. I mean, one was bad enough. :XD:
I'm just kidding, and you did a great job with this piece. The colors are fantastic, and the textures you applied add a lot of interest to the various elements.
