The girls are adorable as they excitedly line up to check out the cute plushies, and I love how cheerful Wilfreda looks when she picks one out. The clerk looks rather disinterested. Even though he heard what Milagros said he should still be pleasant, IMO. Their horrified shock is fantastic, especially seeing Betty losing her composure even more than her friends. (It's really cute though. Too bad Ned isn't there to see. ;) )

Wilfreda's dejected look at the end fits perfectly. I hope something goes right for her, especially since her intentions are so good. Thanks.

The clerk is a woman. :-P

My take on this particular comic is the fact that most kids don't really understand how money works, and how they react when they're told the actual price of things. Sure, 100 dollars is a LOT, but here I had to tackle a conversion problem. See, the one version of the strip that truly works is the SPANISH one, because prices here in Argentina are a bit steeper that those in the US. A quick search online revealed that there are some plush toys than can reach the 100-Dollar mark, but those are... well, rare.

I'm not entirely convinced about this one. In spanish, yes, it makes every sense with conversion in mind. In english, well, it takes a bit of willing.

Oh, I think it works fine in either language. We have our share of "high-end" shops where prices can seem outrageous.

Knowing the price is the quickest way to drive away "customers". "You mean I have to _pay_ for something?" Oops!
But yeah, $100 bucks is pretty high for a teddy bear. Wilfreda should save her quarter for something else, though they have Megawacky's Pixie in the gumball machine.

There's also a Trixie plushie in the first panel, but Wilfreda already owns one.

And you should see the prices in Argentina... My God...
