Requests stamp by MeganTheRabbit Requests stamp by MeganTheRabbit
I've been getting random "do you take requests" on some of my old pictures (mainly my old icon pictures) and this random idea came to mind because it always annoyed me when people asked them.

I don't mind people asking for requests if there open; but if you just ask when it says no on there page it's just like, like no..just no.

Feel free to use.

EDIT-
I remade it and fixed the spelling error.

EDIT 2:
I got sick of repeating myself, so I'm just going to write a faq on here and disable the comments. If you note me for w/e reason don't expect a quick reply because I don't use Deviantart anymore. I only go on when I'm bored.

1. This is mean!
Want to know what I consider mean? People who want me to work for free. Not everyone can draw, just as not every person can build a house. Material costs aside, you pay people for their time. I hate this double standard for artists. An artist deserves to be paid for their hard work and time. Anything less is an insult.

2. I do requests!
Okay. I don't really care unless the artwork you did for free is being used to make money off of by someone else. Do what you want, I don't care. Even if you did you don't need my approval on anything. This stamp was originally directed at random people who came to my page and asked me to make art for them, despite it saying I don't do that.

3. Thankyou! This is exactly how I feel!
You're welcome. I would have deactivated my account a long time ago if it weren't for this stamp. I will not take it down or store it. This is yours to use until devinatart finally shuts down one day.

EDIT 3:

Put comments back on because yolo

Art is not about what you'll get in return, its about making someone happy. If you expect something in return thats selfish and kind people do nice things and dont think about themselves or what they get in return

But when art is a job that you put time and effort into you should expect money in return. Do you walk into a restaurant and just ask for food and expect to get it without paying? No. Yes, cooking food is a nice thing to do for someone, but when it becomes a job, you can't just go around giving everyone a free meal.

If you're poor and you go to a restaurant, they'll most likely kick you out.

That comment only applies if you do something nice for someone just because you wanted to. If they ask you to draw something for them, they owe you something

Was going to take requests but then, I realized that this might be the worst idea ever. I'll take commissions though.

I almost did that. I didn't know what are commissions and what are requests and when I discovered it was like: F*ck, go back. Fix! :D

This is so relatable, like other people who ask a lot of artists with requests and in the end they will find out they were "scammed" or tricked?

Considering I pursued a higher education in art, and there are professions that rely on art. Yes. Doing art is working. It's a learned skill. A learned luxury skill that you are not entitled to for free.

I HATE people who say that artists who want money for their work are selfish/greedy, THEY ARE NOT.

Artists contribute SOMETHING, whether they get paid or give it away for free. That's more than I can say for people who beg for free art constantly.

Random People who ask for requests are selfish and ignorant. It is clear that I don't take requests and a random person asked for a request.

I only do requests for friends only (I even have a stamp on my page that says so, but other peeps don't look there so I get requests asked in notes. To which I say 'no thanks'! >: () only because I know they'll appreciate it and bugger off afterwards! :p

Right? Like once this guy wanted me to draw this character in nightclothes standing in a bedroom, then him dancing in the room (!), and something else I can't recall but tied into this same theme. Granted, that's not quite as weird as some other requests I've seen, but still, he had this obvious fetish for... nightclothes and bedrooms, I guess.

Oh boy, sounds about right xD. My first request was for some two-headed girl OC... honestly, it makes you wonder what makes them think that you would ever want to draw such bizarre things in the first place (especially in your case with the night clothes thing)

Especially if there's nothing whatsoever dealing with fetish work in your gallery. But I notice these types of people are oblivious to anything but themselves and their spank material.

Always tell yourself it could be way worse. XD

If 50 people requested you, and no one commissioned you if you had them up, and they ALL demanded the requests be done in 5 days -, would you STILL be at their commands?

Pretty much, I know which ones need the requests sooner than others, plus time = quality.
Just about everything I do is requested by someone.
Plus, 5 days is reasonable.
