Annabelle Profile

Hey there! This is for Task 2 of OC-Training! Thank you to everyone who left a guess on Annabelle’s Guess Who comic! That one’s been playing through my mind since November and I was very eager to share the idea with you this round. If you’re interested in reading the scene directly after it, you can do so here.

Three words to describe Annabelle: headstrong, offbeat, and bold.

This round takes place six years after Brad’s round and eight years before Jade’s. Annabelle Gray is a 16 year old kid, and she has gone to a local Renaissance festival with her three younger sisters, her shapeshifting cousin Seth, Seth’s best friend Morgan, their new neighbor, Nigel, and Roc, who is there for supervision. At this point, Seth’s father is still in prison for attempted murder, and Annabelle, who absolutley adored him when she was small, is still missing him. Before the festival, she and Seth raided an old box in the attic that belonged to him and found it to be full of costumes, which they dressed up in to go to the festival.

Emory’s imprisonment still disturbs Annabelle greatly. She gets frustrated with Seth because he talks pretty badly about his dad sometimes (it’s just how he deals with grief). But Emory was the one to teach her how to go through the woods and turn over logs and stones to find creatures and to pull crayfish and water dragons out of the creek, so when she gets to the menagerie and sees the sorry state it’s in and sees all the unhappy animals, she just kind of loses it. After telling off the curator and ditching Nigel, she comes back and sets a dragon free. The curator sends his right-hand man after her and the dragon. His right-hand man has a different agenda and has mistaken Annabelle for the shapeshifter (he heard her speaking raven earlier). He intends to kill Annabelle and steal her shapeshifter blood. The grateful dragon she set free rescues her by scaring him off and breathing magic dragon fire into her blood, turning her into a “dragon tamer”.

Annabelle now has dragon fire in her veins. She can now speak with dragons. She starts developing dragon-ish habits. She’s in for a wild ride that just might turn the tide for her family.

Oh, and those ghosts at the end? She won’t remember them after the feverish shock wears off. For a moment, her brush with death sets her right in the middle of a search party.


Enrollment Image Explained:

In case you're curious about the enrollment image, there is a little symbolism behind it. It depicts Annabelle at the festival holding a dragon, but the patterns behind her depict Cobalt the Wicked, her Uncle Emory, and a flock of ravens. The dragon is surrounded by flowers, 11 of which are roses, representing the 11 friends Emory made at Rose Meadow that he later lost. Emory is depicted pulling a gun on the dragon, representing his revenge scheme that got him arrested.
