New Sinister Dirge
Sinister Dirge Part 1The air was thick and dry with smoke and heat. It was rising up and brushing against her face, burning her nose and heating her cheeks. The city was burning, already crumbled and black. Scorched and torn by power. Once a work of art in architecture, it was now wasted, half laying in the streets. The building she stood on was adorned with gargoyle like statues. Perhaps meant to keep people like her away. As if they were that easily fooled. The city was a shining jewel in human society, it was nothing more than a reflection of hell now. Ghoulish roars from the fires echoed between the skeletons of the civilization that was. Dotted with pops of explosions and shattering frameworks crashing down on themselves. The world trembled it seemed, like it was injured. Rather the collapsing structures shook the foundations below. The rattling crept up and into her bones. She felt cold and stunned, while her hands and eyes stung. The homes across from her creaked as they leaned more and more inwards
Sinister Dirge 2"I remember raising my hands, and letting go.." other than that she only had vague images of other towns, cities and vast scenery left in her mind, there were no clear memories. "So much light, noise.. the energy.." she sighed and attempted to remember more about herself. There was a sense of importance and duty. A feeling of strength and power, but it was all covered by a lingering sensation of darkness that shrouded most of everything else. Meerin sat up and wiped away some dust and the tears from her face. The wetness streaked it across her face leaving her looking more dirty. "A few faces, but no names. Nothing else". The stranger held his hand down to her, a kind notion considering his violent acts before.
Sinister Dirge 3 The dragon that chased them was stuck in the back of her mind. Every time she tried to focus on something else it pulled her thoughts back to it. They were halfway out of the city now and neither of them had said a word since. The silence wasn't helping her distract herself from the dragon or her underlying sense of guilt, so she thought of a way to start a conversation.
