Throwback Thursday #3
Whew, almost missed another Throwback Thursday (I was somewhat sick last week), so let's dive quickly into the next piece of the olden days:
I did this when I was 15/16 and totally into all those Sci-Fi and mystery series that aired in the mid to late 90ies and early two thousands. My favourites among those were The X-Files and Stargate SG-1, but this drawing's topic was probably a close third. It shows three characters (bottom to top: Marcus "Augur" Deveraux, Agent Ronald Sandoval and Liam Kincaid, if you want to know ^^) from the series Earth: Final Conflict that was based on an idea developed by Gene Roddenberry.
This was the first time I worked on coloured paper; I choose it, because the series' production design was very much into blues and violets and I wanted to transfer that into my drawing. There are some issues with the portraits (back then I quite obviously tended to draw the eyes too large ^^; ), of course, but overall I'm still happy with it, not only because the

It's Throwback Thursday again and back to school we go ^^
The topic of this assignment was pretty obviously the vanishing point perspective. What makes this painting special for me is that it was the first time I painted with "real" watercolours; before that I had only been using watercolour pencils and even those very rarely. So this was some kind of milestone ^^
I also still remember where the inspiration for the setting came from. Star Wars Episode I had just been released in German cinemas and I went completely bonkers over it - I mean, I was 16 and suddenly there was the chance to see a NEW Star Wars movie (yeah, we all know where that got us eventually, but hey, back then it was the most amazing thing ever 😄)!! To sponge up as many details about The Phantom Menace as possible I bought a making of book that featured tons of sketches by the concept artists and production designers, including the designs for Tattooine by the great Doug Chiang. Those were mostly street scenes
