Contrary to what all the manga and anime news sites are reporting not EVERY OEL from TokyoPop is canceled/direct to web.
I'm happy to say that RE: Play made the cut and that the 3rd volume will be coming out in print, on schedule, as planned!

So please don't think I'm out of the game ha ha ha, I'm still around and the series will be going on as planned :3

However the fact still remains that most of my friends series have been canceled and/or delegated to the web, so please if you know any OEL artists that have been sacked, don't be rude about it. Even if you don't like OEL know that the people behind these series, we all work REALLY hard to do our best to get books out that we really have love for. So please, if you know a TokyoPop OEL artist now would be a great time to give them your support, because dammit, if times aren't tough!

Click the cover image toorder it on if you'd like~~~

And once more, for the record, it is not my fault it's taken so long to come out, that was the publisher's decision, not mine so please don't eat my face over it T^T

Le Grand Grimoire Visuel

RE: Play:
Volume One and Two of RE: Play is avaliable NOW.
You can order RE: Play from or thru's online store. It should also be available at most Borders and Barnes and Nobles locations.

Next Exit:
I'm no longer working with SLG so only volume 1 has been published through them. Since I am no longer working with them the book is out of print and only the remaining stock is left to be sold off. Meaning once it's out of stock it's out of stock for good~
I do want to continue the story sometime in the future, but as of this moment I have other projects that I'm working on developing instead. Sorry!

Mangaka America:
I'm a featured artist in this a full-color artbook that focuses on North American mangaka with an illustration section and a character design tutorial included. You can purchase the book thru or thru most bookstores that carry manga.

Anything you see in my gallery is available as a print.
Prints are 8.5 X 11" and are printed on high grade photo gloss.
Prints are $25 each, and that includes shipping w/in the US.
If you're interested in purchasing something feel free to drop me a note with what you'd like and how you'd like to pay. (Paypal or MO)

This is an UBER late reply but I found this link while searching for info on RP vol.3...and the only thing I can say is...WOW.

I had no idea that TP was cutting back on the original English titles and for one thing, I think that's a bad move on their part. Yes, things are tight but somehow cutting down all these titles for webview only really isn't the same as actually having your work PUBLISHED mainly because anyone can have their work online now and frankly, a web-only manga isn't the same as actually being able to carry and read a book when you're not on a computer, say like when you're on the metro or on vacation because not everyone has a laptop to chuck around them every waking second.

I'm very glad that you RP is still going to be published because I've been a fan of it ever since I found it at borders two years ago. You are a VERY talented person and I couldn't even imagine what it would be like to have something I worked on for so long suddenly dropped without any given explanation (read; Minx comics)...yet. ;)

I do remember someone on mention that TP wasn't doing too well but I never imagined things like this happening. Compared to Viz, a good majority of my small manga collection IS TP so I thought that they were at least doing well SOMEWHERE.

And as if cutting OEL from publication is going to help anything . OEL AREN'T the problem (to me anyway, but I could be wrong) seeing as I have read worst original Japanese manga compared to all the work being contributed by American/Western artist. The only thing this does is discourage young people with talent to actually publish with TP because who would want to send their stuff in and be told that it will DEFINITELY be published in book format only to be told a few weeks later that it didn't make the cut and MAY get a chance to be seen on the website? If you would have known about this before hand, you might as well should have just uploaded it on dA for FREE without all the hassle. :(

Yays, I'm glad your manga made the final cut. I'm sad though, that other OEL manga didn't make it. :( What date will the 3rd book be out?

I blame rising gas prices. EVERYTHING can go back to rising gas prices.

Thats like the best new's I've heard all day though! <3 (And the worst, at the same time DX)

Whaaaat? They cancelled a whole bunch of OEL manga? Why? O.o
I'll be waiting for the next volume of Re:Play, thought I haven't even seen volume 2 at my bookstore yet :(
MediaViolence's avatar
Mmm if your bookstores dont carry it you can always order it off Amazon, it's even cheaper on there!

Wow, people are laughing at the OEL artists that got sacked?

That's pretty lame of them to say the least.

So glad you made the cut! I wondered about your title when I got the news.

Awesome! What's vol. three's cover gonna be like?
Expotato's avatar
Wow, well its good to know that some people are surviving through the cuts. Its pretty painful to hear about since I definitely know alot of people work very hard to get in the field and to have something like this happen is pretty sad.

I was gunning for Tokyopop to get published but--I'm a bit scared now because of the recent cuts and more likely they may not want to even look for new OEL's. Shame...I really thought I would've fit in there.

Maybe when the climate changes in the industry maybe--I'm also looking into other companies. I'll even be someones inker if need be. Hopefully, fans will realize that as much as it hurts people should really support the industry here so it can stay afloat.

This is very comforting. If it HAD been canceled at least 50% of my friends would have eaten my face (i got them all addicted to Re:play XP)

Is TokyoPop a difficult publisher to go to? I want to go to them once I'm older (and better) but I don't know their history with relationships with the mangakas.

YAY! RE: Play!!
keiyume's avatar
Well congratulations on making the cut. RE:Play is probably the only OEL I collect. It's a shame to see some of the others go, though. Nevertheless, I figured it was only a matter of time, seeing as TP was pushing so many series all of a sudden. Many other manga/anime companies have already felt the effect of our falling economy (combined with the ever constant bootlegging). Such a shame, really.
