In case you've ever wondered why your images seem to get worse once uploaded to Deviantart, that's because they get compressed to hell.
Here is a very nice journal from few years back (yes, it's been hapenning for a while) about what causes it and most importantly, how to fix it. Yes, it's as simple as right clicking the image and selecting "view image" and then take a look at the URL (you should see something like this-

EDIT: It seems like this update has been rolled back. I went to bed after posting this and went to check on this again the next day. And things are back to normal... but keep your eyes peeled. I'd say this was not the last time we've seen this feature.
I've just noticed there's been another change to Deviantart, which is going to make finding specific pictures harder. Previously when you've entered someone's gallery, you could choose from several available folders- "All", "Featured", "Scraps" and any other folders created by the artist. I don't think I have to point this out to anyone, it's just for context. The "All" folder used to display every picture in chronological order. I say used to, because it has been REPLACED with a new "Recommended for you" folder, in which the pictures are displayed to you not in order of the upload dates, instead DA tries sorting them to show you things, that it thinks you want to see the most first (based on your browsing I reckon). I've had one of my brilliant ideas and tried accessing the Deviantart's newest deviaton page, which is now inacessible by normal means. You either have to use Google to find it, or add '/new' after www.deviantart.com, it's almost like Deviantart is trying to hide it for some reason. Well, there's not much to see really, at the time of writing this I see a picture of someone's foot, actually plenty of foot fetish pictures right now, then a picture of Santa beating some guy's ass, a whole bunch of AI pictures despite browsing in the 'supress AI' mode and also plethora of generally terrible artworks. And I'm also using 'standart' browsing mode, I've tried 'mature' few days earlier and regretted that. Yes, the newest deviation page is just as much of a horror show as it always been. I just thought I'd share this with you, because it's funny.
