The final art for the XM:A poster I did for Fox this spring. It was released last week so I'm finally able to show it :D

Colours by William Blankenship

They had a bunch of us do illustrated posters with various characters as part of their marketing rollout for the movie. Fox asked me if I could do realism, and to draw this scene from the movie. Its a really different style to work in -- I'm so glad I got a chance to draw these characters, and I hope you all like the results!

Yeah, you go Apocalypse!  The movie mystique always annoyed me, especially now that she's played by Jennifer Lawrence.

Funny you chose this scene that had 4th Wave feminists screaming for blood.  You should have seen the uproar it caused when Fox put it on a billboard for the movie.  Personally I have half a rats rump here, and I wouldn't give to anyone that cares.  Draw that which inspires you  ;)

Well it was a pretty odd choice for an advertisement.  I can't think of any other films that had people getting choked on its poster, except for a few Horror films.

I actually didn't choose the scene, Fox requested that I draw this, so I didn't actually have to pitch anything for this one. And it was done before the billboard -- it made its debut at Wonder Con a couple months prior. I did see the uproar and I think it was ridiculous.

Agreed, so many people jump like wolves on a weakened member just to stay safely part of the pack.  It's sad we are seemingly seeing an end of free expression in our lifetimes.

(I image there wasn't uproar at Wonder Con :P)

It does seem much more Egyptian!

I wish it were more of a technorganic design, like the flesh and steel being one...

Even the comic artists fail on that though.  Apocalypse is a tough character to design as he's supposed to look like he could be anything!

Tough to design ? Any proper character is. However, he is a blast to draw when one gets a fitting focal form for him Here are my personal interpretations    Harbringer Of The Fit  XF7 - If You Break Tomorrow
Artists like Walt Simonson, Joe Mad, Roger Cruz , John Paul Leon and Adam Pollina nail the right amount of vivid and grotesque that are synonymous with En Sabah Nur.

Remember when everybody got mad because the bad guy was acting like a bad guy?

Nope.

Though I do think its a really odd choice for an advertisement.  Like what were they trying to promote?  The bad guy is a bad guy as you've said?  Then wouldn't his threat of using Charles' power to mind control everybody be tons better?  Or show the bad guy's strength with him taking out multiple X-men as opposed to just one woman?

And Its not like any other superhero films had advertisements of their villains trying to kill anyone.
